Question GT3 brake ducts, are they a good idea?

Hey everyone, I have seen ads for 997 GT3 brake ducts (for like $30) to be used on 996's.

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PKGT3FRS.html

Does anyone know if this modification is a good idea? Will I be scraping/braking them on speed bumps in parking lots? Or have any other problems with them because of rain or snow or anything?

Also, and more importantly, will these fit a Carrera 4?

Default Ducts

The 997 Turbo ducts are a tad larger and clip right on. I have been using them on the track for some time.

They fit with no problem and there's no real issue with scraping or breaking them. They are just a bit larger. The cup version is quite a bit larger and those pose more issues.

Last year I installed the GT3 brakes ducts (front ) and added zip ties, just in case of a lanscaping issue on/off track. To date, no issues whatsoever. Inexpensive brake saving enhancement.

they make only a little bit of a difference, and only if you track the car, but for the price that is one of the cheapest update you can make.

I have a set that I purchased from another member.
They are a bit larger than the stock ducts, but have a good amount of road clearance that they should not get in the way, unless your car is lowered significantly.

the ducts clip on, but as usual, if one of the clips is loose or missing, it's better to zip tie them thru the small holes that you can make. before you take off the old ones, get a good look at how they are oriented on the lower arm, because it can be a bit confusing.

For comparison, here are side by side photos of the stock and GT3 ducts.

I installed them last year to improve air flow to the front brakes of course thinking track.. Its an easy inexpensive DYI enhancement, i like to think it makes a difference... I replaced my Pagid yellows with Performance Friction pads at the same time, the braking was wayy better, 99% because of the pads. It will fit your C4...

I have so many mods on my car that I can't keep track of all of them, many of which are just for the heck of it. That being said you do have to ask yourself if there is really any benefit to this mod. If you are tracking the car then the additional cooling airflow would be a benefit. But for normal road use do you really have any brake cooling issues, I doubt it. So if you are just looking for something to do, or replacing old damaged ones go for it. If not save the time and money. IMHO

We keep them in stock as they are a cheap (though minor) upgrade when we service cars for our track day clientele. They aren't going to change your world, but every little bit of cooling can help, and these provide it. They fit 996/986/997/987 cars and are simple to install.
