17" Winter Tires?
I've been debating weather to get all season 18" tires for year-round use (Conti DWS), or, keep my summer wheels/tires and get new winter tires for my 17" twists (my Pirelli 240's are 9 years old).
Problem is, nobody seems to have the sizes needed in ANY of the top winter tires. Why is that? It's not the middle of December!

Tirerack has the Blizzak LM-60 Performance Winter/Snow in 225/40-18 and 265/35-18 in stock. They also have Dunlop #D and a couple of other tires in sizes that will work, although not quite stock sizes.

Former Vendor
I have already made mention of this in another post: so far the tire industry has been unable to provide us with much of anything that works in the match staggers these cars take. It's not even cold yet and the product should be on our shelves, but isn't. We are rattling cages hard to get some more product here, but your best recourse against being out of luck this year is to order what you need NOW. Bridgestone and Dunlop have kept their promises and there are options. Please call me ASAP, everyone, and we'll figure something out. If anything you should have your name on the list. Remember, I don't bill you anything until it comes in. It can't hurt.
I've been here almost 10 years and serving you guys 6, and I have never seen it even close to this.

Bump:
I am thinking of Picking up some 17" for winter - but I agree I see nothing online regarding any matching sets.
Porsche approved 17" tires for winter tires appear not to exist anymore.
Should I get another set of 18s instead?
I wanted more of a profile for the bumpy winter roads in DC.
All I can find online is Goodyear Eagle GTs - which is really not a winter tire but all season.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are quite a few 17" staggered tires available.
I listed a few in this thread:

I found a set of LM-25 rears on ebay to get me through this year.
Next year, I likely try Vredestein or Hankook.
17's work great for winter!

I run 17" winter tires on my 99 Porsche and they work great. Mine are Blizzaks and bought them 3-4 years ago from Tirerack. Haven't looked at winter sizing lately, so don't know about sizing issues.

If you are willing to run 17" for the winter, Nokian sells a set. They are great winter tires but there not cheap. Definitely worth it though if you use it as a daily driver, as i try and do.
