Default X-74 question

I am about to order this from Carnewel but i have read conflicting/confusing info on previous posts and perhaps someone can chime in on this to clear it up for me.............?
I have the standard American suspension therefore do i just buy the 4 struts or do i also need the torsion bars etc......
I have read that if you have the M030 suspension (which I presume is the standard American suspension) then you don't need to buy the torsion bars because the X74 torsion bars are the same as the M030?

p.s. I am excited to have this gear on my car based on what everyone has written as comments before/after!!

you dont have torsion bars

keep in mind bigga anti-sway (anti-roll or just "SWAY") bars will reduce body roll - if the kit comes with them great..if not you can change at any time, does not effect alignment and can be done in the driveway while its raining
(ask me how I know)

I bought a set from Carnewal and my set came with the whole set up including sawy bars. I suggest you getting the set with sway bars.

The M030 is not the standard American suspension. M032 is the standard touring suspension found on many U.S. Cars.

Go to this site http://www.autoatlanta.com/life/vin/vin.php?, plug in your vin, and it will tell you which suspension your car came with from the factory. Keep in mind that someone may have already changed the suspension if you are not the orignal owner.

I have the M030 suspension and the sway bars that came with this set -up are supposed to be the same as the x-74 set-up.

Best advice. The M030 is not standard, it was an option, so you need to make sure whether you have it or not. If you are not sure, best to get the torsion bars.

One more thing to consider. I see you have a '99. Torsional rigidity on the 911 was significantly beefed up starting 2002 and up. Porsche originally did not recommend the X73/X74 suspensions for pre-2002 911's. I think they still don't, but many have been happy regardless.

Unless you are running this car as a FULL race car on full slicks (Not Hoosier R6's) the Mrk1 996 will never have any issues with the X73/74 kit. Place the sways from the kit on the car... Then you will have new rubber bushings, forget the GT3 sways unless you are tracking the daylights out of the car.

When you are done... Drive it like you stole it and enjoy!

I discussed this with Gert from Carnewal and there should be no issues. I like the X-74 a lot. If you ever in Ottawa PM me and you can feel it for yourself (unless of course you just go ahead and do it )

And you do need the sway bars, the stock ones are smaller diameter.

Also don't forget the engine protection plate - the car really rides lower and the protection is worth it.
