reason is the metal is not the same

the way the threads are produced is not the same

theway they are tested is not the same

there is no accountability or liability for automotive use....if it fails, home depot will not be liable because there stuff is not auot, airplane or submarine quality....infact while on the subject, why not ask a pilot or submarine captain if he wants home depot bolts in this ship... hell they look the same in the little bag...

I am NOT having this conversation, I hate cheap crap PERIOD
Fortunately I don't own a submarine. Nor do I know any submarine captains that I can ask where they get replacement bolts.

All I asked was for some type of documentation about the supposed shoddiness of Home Depot bolts. You've given me nothing but opinions.

Is there any fact in your argument?

FWIW, I buy most of my hardware at my local Fastenal dealer simply because they're closer to my shop than Home Depot or Lowes.

BTW be carefull as when I replaced mine, they sent me a version with TORX while my previous bolt were Allen. so I had to go back to buy a special TORX socket so I could torque the thing. they are pretty expensive as they are very big, I think they are 55

Also, FYI, a good percentage of Fastenal's product lines are made in China as well.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Chinese manufacturers will build to spec. The problem is that many companies won't pay .02 more for a decent product.

just a side note - were I work the bolts that have been used "without a problem" are now failing vibe tests... before our stuff didnt have to pass and they worked fine... now they are ALL failing and its to the point of causing catistrophic failures... but the bolts "look" the same and have the same specs (read basic specs)

ever wonder why a bolt on the space shuttle can cost $100 for a single 1/4-28 x 2" bolt? I am sure its because someone is ripping off the government... they should have went to Home depot.

the reason i have no facts is that someone went before me and discovered they are not the same, i read it and remember the important stuff...which is, they are differant. ---- I really need to stop thinking about this because I get a little worked up
