100,000 miles tomorrow lads
I calculate that I will roll 100,000 miles in my 2002 996 C2 on my commute home tomorrow. I will try to get a photograph, but I will be commuting after all so no guarantees.
It's a bit of a paper trophy though. My engine was replaced under warranty at about 40,000 miles so it's only the chassis that's growing up.
Car is great though, not good I say, but great. Looking forward to another 100,000.

It is great to see these sort of miles on a 996. There is a lot of worry out there that 996's can't make it that far. I had my intermix at 50,000 but am now almost 60,000 and looking forward to turning 100,000. Not sure anyone has beat Mcaster with his 235,000 on his Boxster

I do 15000 miles per year, and I plan to keep this car for another 10 so that would bring me to 250,000. I'll be an old(er) man by then though.
Half a million miles (eds link)....if I keep it up at the rate that I'm going I will be at least 70 years old by then. I dunno boys, I don't usually keep cars that long.
the good news is that if I keep up with my oil changes, maybe do the LNE upgrade, and don't do anything stupid, then I have very little to worry about. The car still drives like new and the trim and interior are holding up extremely well.
Those air cooled guys throwing smack about the 996 have it all wrong, although you admittedly don't hear it as much anymore.

After city and hwy mixes with not easy on the throttle all the time I had 18.5mpg. No way to make it around this island keeping it all hwy for even an 1/8th of a tank.

Yea Dog !!
that's the way to drive em'
for me the freeway is just about perfect distance from my house where the car is "just warm" enough to hit redline every morning.... a couple gears worth...2nd, 3rd and sometimes when I am real lucky and traffic is extra light 4th
then like you about every few miles she stretches out and gets another run up through the upper rpm's - yippy, people wonder why I pull into work with a big smile....it aint because I ate beans last light
