Default Anyone have an extra "hi-fi" amplifier laying around?

It has to be an 03+ model hi-fi amp for the MOST system.

One of my channels went dead and the amplifier is to blame, so I'd like to just replace it rather than wire in a whole new stereo.

If you have your old one and what to get rid of it, let me know and I'll gladly pay for it.

Thanks,

- Anthony

I'm in the middle of changing out my stereo system and will have no need for the factory amp.
If this is what you're looking for PM me and I'm shure we can work out a deal.
This amp is out of a 2003 C4S with the Bose system. As far as I can tell it was working fine.

Unfortunately the Bose amp won't work with the normal "hi-fi" stereo. I'll pull the part number off my amp tomorrow. Thanks for the offer though.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification. I thought the Mk2 996s were all MOST.

I believe I have the hi-fi amp from my '02 C4 cab. PM me if interested - I'm on the west coast but will be home in CO tomorrow...

I think it has to be an 03+ since I need a fiber connection to the amp. We can compare part numbers though....

OK, I found this amplifier for sale:

HAES
6 x 40 W Verstarker
996 coupe M490
(then something I can't read, followed by looks like 645 321.00 (like the first 3 digits are smeared
then Harman 49134 70314/01
Serial-NR:06433
date: W103
Mine is a Becker, but this one is 6x40W and it looks to have the MOST system. Given the date seems Week 1 of 2003, it should be compatible.

Does anyone know for sure? My 911 is a 2004.

I pulled my amp and my part number is: 996.645.331.03

So I have a feeling that the one above is an older version (321 vs 331), but I wonder if it will work. Perhaps I will meet up with the guy and take a look at the amp and give it a test.

I answered my own question. Just wanted to share this here in case the question comes up again. From RennTech:

For 996 (coupe only--targa and cabrio may differ) with M490, the part numbers in PET (update 203, about a year old now) are:

996.345.301.01 through 2000 model year
996.345.321.00 for 2001 and 2002 model years
996.645.331.01 for 2003-on
996.645.331.02 for 2003-on (supersedes 996.645.331.01)
996.645.331.03 for 2003-on (supersedes 996.645.331.02)

The last three, 996.645.331.xx, are MOST and are the same amps used in Boxster with M490 for 2003-2004.
Although based on the part number the guy gave me, either he means 345.321 or 645.331, if it's the latter then it should work with my car.

Quick Reply: Anyone have an extra "hi-fi" amplifier laying around?
