Thanks for the discussion and your observations. In my initial look at photos, I noticed some corrosion around wheel caps, a minor issue, but still indicative of something. Hadn't thought of sitting outside in Miami.

What you showed was the AutoCheck, I think. They normally show fewer service lines than CarFax, so something more might show up, but probably not a lot.

I just turned 70 and am looking for a 911 after many years of BMWs and other cars (with some Formula Ford racing in years past). Unless it was a lot cheaper and I could hand it over to a good shop to refresh, it would not be a satisfying move for me. I don't mind doing some work on a car, expected actually, but I don't need a "project" right now.

Good luck in your search.

Haha... you're right. It's specifically an AutoCheck. But it's like.... when we call every soft drink a Coke in the south, right my NC brotha? haha

Seriously, you may have a good point. It may be worth the $30 to purchase a CarFax too and compare. However, when I sold my Porsche, the CarFax and AutoCheck were identical.

I wish you all the best in this purchase!

X51 helps but noes not solve. It has better pickups, scavenge pumps, baffles, but it's still not as good as an accusump.

Run XP9 oil on the track; based on some UOA I did, even brand new DT40 gets thinned out on track; the stock setup doesn't have enough oil cooling I guess.

I did an IMS retrofit and then just this year an IMS solution. No problems with either.

B3 and RW, I actually I have a carfax on this vehicle and there are 2 accidents. One front and one rear. Two separate occasions.

I've had my eyes/hands on the vehicle and took it for a test drive. Cosmetically it's not in bad shape. Also it drove well. However, it leaks like a sieve. After pointing this out, the dealer said they would put it on a lift and take a look. Called me back with a "So when do you want to take it for an inspection?" and I asked them about the leak. They replied with what leak? It's fine no leaks at all... which immediately throws up a red flag for me. I'm still interested in the car, but would NEVER purchase without a thorough inspection. Good luck to all those looking at it as well.

Did the Carfax say both accidents happen around Nov 30, 2011? On the Autocheck, there are TWO case numbers and so it could be the owner hit another vehicle in a parking lot, then shortly later, had another accident which required tow.

Either way, anyone that wants this car should have a PPI done on it. Not sure that will help with getting a better price, but at least it will be the nail in the coffin if something shows up that immediate attention. IMHO, unless you're wanting to hold onto the car for a long time, I would pass. Just my 2 cents.

I've attached the photo. Front accident 11/30/2011 and rear accident 2/03/16

Well, the second accident could have been minor and reported by the insurance agency. Like backing out of a garage or something. Still hurts the value though. I learned this over and over when reselling vehicles now that people rely heavily on CarFax. And, as I mentioned before, there are no maintenance records on this car. Could be an anomaly, independent shop, or DIY'r?

It's in Roswell GA. Someone just wire Jake some money to have his shipping people grab it and then IMS solution it, then it would be a perfect HPDE car you wouldn't care if you bumped up a bit.

It's encouraging that even a twice wrecked 40th is asking $22k+!

Default VIN Code or option code for 40th

Is there a way to confirm 40th Anniversary using a VIN code or option code? I found a car for sale which has the center console silver, instrument trim, side skirts and turbo front, but the badges on center dash, and rear deck are missing. Black later model wheels, not 40th polished. Either a modified 40th, or an incomplete knockoff. If it is the latter, curious why the fake upgrade was not complete with badges...

I guess the first things I'd look for would be the paint code and the upholstery code - at the time I don't think many, if any, 996's had these. Here's a sample of a build sheet with option codes:
