apparently the PO changed the springs to stiffer ones

I wanted the X74 setup, just a little pricey, the guys who have it swear by it

Anything that will fit a regular C2, should be good for our cars as well. I bought a set of used H&R Streets off ebay that were taken off of a C2 and i had no issues installing them myself. The car is still on those coilovers and i love them.

Quick simple question… Does the 40th AE have a steel or alum hood? I recently replaced my hood struts after it fell on a power bleeder (argh!) and then had the dent in my hood repaired and fully repainted over the last month. Now, lifting the hood, it feels much heavier. I had talways believed the hood was aluminum (I could have sworn the body shop had estimated it to be) but putting a magnet on it yesterday, it’s definitely steel.

Can someone confirm the material?

Does anyone have good suggestion for replacement floor mats? My local dealership and Suncoast have both confirmed the originals (Dark Gray / Natural) have been discontinued. Thanks

I learned recently that the natural grey floormats were discontinued - it's terrible. Thankfully I ordered a second set a couple of years ago - I just pull them out when I want to show off the car. One suggestion is to go with the black ones. There were several 40ths that, when new, came with the black ones instead of grey due to customer preference when they were ordered. The other thing to consider is to see if one of the dismantlers, who is parting out a 40th, would sell the floormats, too. I've got some stuff that may help you in your search - I was going to send you a private message but you're too new for that functionality here. Shoot me an email and we can talk. I went with a set of Coco mats for the front and have zero regrets.
Even better was the fact they were a gift from wife and kids for Fathers Day couple years back.

Purchased #1155 and took delivery over the weekend, drove nearly 600 miles home. After owning a variety of air cooled 911s since 1975, this is my first water cooled Porsche. First impression is that I love the car! Taking it in tomorrow for the preventative LN engineering IMS bearing replacement, check the clutch, RMS, and flywheel while "in there". I'll post pics when I get it back!
