Default 40th Anniversary 911 Registry Updated 8-5-13

Thanks to those who gave me updated info for the registry and to those who expressed their kind words about the project. I’m going to keep at this and try to make it as complete as possible. Today I posted updated registry files (with and without numbers). The link is the same as in my original posting, but here it is anyway:

Link to registry files: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/402gqbvsv92uz4l/Is2tIKl-Er

I’m going to reach out to some of the others owners’ forums for more updates, too, but here at home on Rennlist I could use some help with regard to the following members, even though many of these folks no longer own a 40th anniversary 911. I’d like to either get (or confirm as the case may be) their cars’ numbers. Also, for those who have sold their cars, if they have any info as to the current owners, that, too, would be helpful.

Sold:
rodsky (in some postings said no. 11 and in others no. 22)
peachboy/mbergeron (in different postings said 1440, 1443 and 1444)
vtwin996
bluehinder
gr8330
Nlash
evansystems
bronston
Electric Lizard

Current/last known owners:
mikewdickinson (was selling in 2012)
djhill (in some postings said no. 158 and in others no. 159)
apers (in some postings says no. 878 and in others no. 879 - bought from Elton in So Cal who had said no. 878)
Fast 40th (says no. 1063 in first posting but no. 1034 all later postings)
Gatorman
hollmatt
DrPeter
cobra935o
jniemeyer
et69
Jack14
DEW
Mike Verran
bryanMTL
hdpt73
Charlie C

If I’ve missed anyone that you know of please let me know. I may try to PM these folks, too, in case they no longer subscribe to this thread. As I said before, if anyone has any suggestions to improve the project, like adding a column for luggage ownership (thanks MiamiC70 ), please let me know. While the comment about displaying luggage ownership was in jest, it does raise the thought of recording other info like that or like IMS replacement and/or failure, which could be helpful to future owners of these great cars. Thanks, everyone.

PS: if I don’t have a pic of your car in the registry and you want me to add one please either post one here or PM me. Thanks, again.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been quite a bit of work but I have very much enjoyed this project. For what it's worth, I posted this same info on RennTech, 6speed, 911uk, pff (Germany), club911 (France), and Soloporsche (Spain). I'm probably going to try a few other international sites as well. One of the folks in Germany on pff expressed that he had the same idea and ambition (about creating a more interactive 40AE registry) and we've been in a dialogue about the mechanics of doing so. He has reached out to the moderator of the 964 Jubi (30 Jahre) website to see whether he might want to collaborate or at least give us his guidance.

In the meantime, I'd ask that those who have yet to provide their numbers please do so. Thanks, and stay tuned for more updates.

Nice job on the registry, you clearly spent many hours of research that we all appreciate.

I picked up some new luggage of fleabay last week, just the wallet and keyfob to get, anyone know if these are available new from the dealers?

I tried but was never able to get a clear answer on the key fob and wallet. What I came away with is the same thing I do every time I ask dealer about my 40th AE. "They don't really know much" :/

Although it is probably a long-shot, if you look at my posting on the prior page I have a picture of the form that came with the luggage I just bought, when that luggage was originally delivered with the car. There is a phone number for PCNA on it that you might try. I believe that phone number was intended to be used if there was a discrepancy when the luggage was delivered, meaning that some of the pieces were missing. Good luck.

Hello
Thanks for posting the list of 40 Year cars, had to be a lot of work. I have car #1374 and found it on the register. How to add more info is my question. Just turned 135,000 miles.

Welcome and congrats! Love to see some pics of your car. In case you haven't seen these here are some web pages from when your car was previously sold at auction - thought you'd be interested:

Steve - I have a good deal more info on most of the cars in the registry, but for now I'm just posting numbers, owners and locations. My hope is that the registry can evolve into a more robust and interactive platform that can have other info available. I'm just not sure how much info owners want posted (e.g., VIN, IMS replacement (Y/N), engine replacement, wreck/damage, mileage, luggage (Y/N), mods, etc.). When owners like you provide additional info I record it for possible future use. Stay tuned...

Default Interesting 40AE stuff

In my research for the 40AE registry I came across many interesting things. Here are a few that I thought our group would find interesting.

1. Video of Hans Mezger (and another person I don't know) driving a vintage (presumably 1963/64 911) and 40AE around a track. My guess is that this is the video that was on the 40AE website back in 2003-04 that I've seen people refer to.

2. Video of making of panorama shoot for 40AE website - very cool video.

3. There are several salvage 40AEs in the registry, but none more sad than this one. A poster on the forum "River Dave's Place" said this (http://www.riverdavesplace.com/forum...elbaker-Road): "So a few weeks ago, my BIL got his '04 40th Anniversary 911 from the dealer's service department, and he decided to take it for a cruise.

He was doing the posted speed limit because a car of this caliber simply doesn't go nay faster on long stretches of deserted roads...and he heard a "pop" from the engine.

He pulled over, there was flaming pool of oil under the engine, then the car burned to the ground.

Sucks, there were 1,963 of these produced. Not really rare by 911 standards, since they make a ton of limited-edition models, but it was a pretty cool car. He's the original owner, and it only had about 10K miles on it, was basically brand new.
"

He attached a pic of the burning car - I thought maybe it was a joke, until I found the car being sold at salvage (http://www.autobidmaster.com/carfind...BERNARDINO_CA/). I've posted his pic and a few from the salvage sale. If you zoom in to either the poster's pic or the pic of the back of the salvage car you can see the "911" logo on the engine cover. I guess it's safe to say there aren't 1963 of our cars any more.

Cool Nr. 1103

Hi,
Re-visiting this thread and not sure if I posted prior. I have Nr. 1103!! Here are a few mods I "Started with", typical. ie: A.W.E. Exhaust, SOFTRONIC ECU Tune, EVOMs Complete Air filter kit, 19" Roderick RW5 Wheels 19x8.5 front and 19x11 rear wheels & Hankook VENTUS K110 235/35/ZR19 front and 285/30/ZR19 rear tires, B&M short shifter, Carbon Fiber rear spoiler, and new aftermarket clutch stage 3 (From ClutchMasters) AND Light Weight flywheel and IPD Competition Plenum.

Back in August, 2013 (Build Started in July, 2013). VF-Engineering Supercharger Kit was installed. Pre-Dyno was 363HP to the crank with all the previously mentioned mods (without the supercharger kit). I will wait until 2,500 miles until I post-Dyno with Supercharger kit. Interested in upgrading your mod, but need help with legally being exempt from smog testing. Talk to me. Also, I had to replace the EVOMs Complete Air Filter Kit and should be on Sale soon. As well as my stock 40th wheels and tires and stock exhausts. As of this moment, Local buyers only. San Diego, California.

By the way, I was on Fox news just a week ago as well.
