Removing hood release handle
Hey what is the trick to removing the hood release handle? I popped off the 3 tiny plugs and i cant seem to figure out how to pull off the plastic shroud around the handles. Any tips?

I have seen a DIY removal write up for it, but dont recall where... there are screws on the side near the seat IIRC - then the plasctic comes free... I actually had th e think "where is the hood opener"

I lost the little decals, but it was well worth it since they are very expensive to replace.

Okay this is what i did. The scratches were extremely deep on the hood handle. I ended using aircraft remover (aka super paint stripper) to strip the paint and primer off the handle down to the bare metal. Sorry i forgot to take a picture of that. After i stripped it, I used a power sander with 80 grit then to 120 grit. I primed the bare metal and then wet sanded it with 800 grit until smooth. After the handle dried from the water I used Rustoleum silver paint . A few light coats later i spray the handle using Rustoleum Clear coat enamel. One light coat and two nice medium coats until the part was glossy. Currently I am waiting for the paint to dry and I will post an update on the durability of the paint.
Note: The factory paint is slightly lighter than the Rustoleum silver, I will wait until it is dry and compare them in the car. The picture I took does not do the new paint any justice (it looks darker in the photo)
