Default high pitch squeal

hi all!

so iv had this weird issue ever since i bought the car a few months ago, any time i am over 100mph i get a high pich squea and it seems to get louder the faster i keep going, the noise does fluctuate. i have tried using my wipers to see it they were the ones making the noise, but no luck. i have also turned off the radio and the like. anyone have any ideas? oh its only not done it one or so times...

im pretty sure its wind noise, but i cant figure out what would be the cause of a whistle... i did delete my front plate and fixed a few front end issues, but have yet to hit that speed since then

Does lightly applying the brakes make the noise change any?

I see in another post you mention some front end work. Perchance is the front trunk lid flush with or even above the front bumper cover top edge?

The front trunk lid wants to be below the front bumper cover's top edge.

Is the gas filler lid flush?

Occasionally in my 02 Boxster when on the freeway at (ahem) speed in high winds a howl occurs that is the wind pulling a side glass away from a window seal a bit. The seals are water tight and even driving in heavy rain at speed there's never been any water get in past the window seals or in the cabin or trunks at all.

The seals can be made to seal a bit tighter I think though I've not bothered. The seal is a u-shaped rubber strip that is open at the top. A small rubber o-ring can be cut and laid in this u at the bottom to spread the legs of the u out a bit and apply a bit more pressure to the side glass when the window is up.

One doesn't want to overdue this though.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Pretty simple alternating where masking tape is applied. Some winshields can howl so do that area one time.

Did you ever confirm what caused the squeal?

The same happens to my 991.2 between 80-90kmh, between 210-250km in winter and above 250kmh in summer. It‘s caused by my panorama sunroof. Best thing to do is tape off different areas (left side, then right side, then front, then back seams) at a time and listen whether it eliminates the whistle sound. With that knowledge, go to your Porsche dealer and have them fix it.
