The IMS article is in Excellence and not available to read online. You need to buy a copy.

This issue is PACKED!!!! There are a ton of great articles this month. If only all the issues were this good.

Lots of research went into this article and the second part of it thats coming out next issue...They covered the bases very well and should help people to understand the issues and procedures more thoroughly. I am doing a proof read of part two right now, its awesome!

Intermediate shaft replacement, Part 1.

The article stated that during short drives water in the oil does not vaporize, if the IMS bearing seal is leaking this water will quickly destroy the bearings. Also stated, 996 track cars operating at a high RPM causes the motor oil penetrating the IMS bearing to become like grease and properly lubricates the bearings, thus the cause why 996 track cars do not have IMS failure.

I enjoy Total 911 much better than Excellence. They have been publishing some great articles on the 996s.

Someone explain to me in a manner an engineer can understand, if the seal (an O-ring, not a diaphragm) is bad, how can oil can leak in but not out

What I get out of the previous post is drive long, hard and often. All good things to do to a Pcar!
