Read the article, it spells out whats happening when teh IMS goes. Next issue will have a retro fit install....

As said above, it's a good issue. I've read most of the articles and will be saving the 918 article for last. Next up tonight, the "911E, 911S, & 911T" article.

Has anyone gotten the IMS fix described in "Excellence" on their 996? How much did the installation cost?

LN Engineering IMS upgrade is about $400 for part and $100 for tool. Do a search in form for IMS iin this form. Labor Cost would be same to pull transmission.

As far as I know I think three folks have done this on here BruceP(at the shop), Shark Attack(at home) & me(at home). The part is $519(single row) or $595 (dual row) + $70 for the tool. Anyone in LA/San Diego area can borrow mine if needed. It's not a hard job at all.

My bearing appeared to be fine. But my theory is that if my car made it 55K miles on one clutch, the next time I will be in there will be at over 100K(fingers crossed), so I figured I might as well get it done. It's $600 insurance. You never know if you're going to need it, just like helmets, seatbelts, and fix-a-flat.
