Still debating what to do about shocks/suspension on my 2000 C4 Cab. Koni now has shocks for our cars, a sport version, and their FSD (frequency Selective Damping) series. These have gotten good reviews on other cars, including the 993's. Anyone with any experience with them on a 996? Or should I be the test case?

Are the FSD's available for the 996? I couldn't find it in their catalog?
Are you looking to replace your stock shocks or are you looking for something more? Being the test case is probably not a good idea unless you are getting a killer deal on the product! I'd point you towards the tried and tested (Bilsteins or KW's) and would suggest that you wait to find someone selling a used set if you don't want to spend the amount for new ones (unless your shocks are absolutely gone)!

They are $840 at Tirerack. I say those too. Wouldn't the ROW 030 still be the better option at $1150 from Suncoast?
I'm in the same situation trying to decide which way to go. The ROW doesn't lower the car too much which is a plus for me. The X73/74 is too low and double the price of the ROW. Decisions, decisions...

Why you guys don't consider the PSS ? price too high ? or something else ?
I am really close to pull the trigger on the PSS10, or 9 if I can find some.
I want to lower a bit and get less body roll, my current shocks are pretty old and floaty

The FSD's were just released for the 996. Also Koni now has sport shocks for the 996. A new alternative for our cars. As for the ROW M030, I have been considering it, but it lowers the front by 20mm and I drag my splitter on driveways, etc. all the time now. Also, Sunset says they will have to order it from Porsche in Germany, which shows that none are in stock at this time so a set will have to be assembled. As for the PSS9/10, these are what I had planned on, but PSS9's are about $2,000 if you can find them, and PSS10's are $2,500 or so. A bit much at this time for me.
Also a set of the "stock" Bilstein's costs more than the ROW M030.

I spoke with Suncoast (Sarasota, FL) last week. They said there was one in the U.S. and could have it shipped within a few days. $1150 plus about $50 shipping.

Have you contacted Gert at Carnewal?
http://carnewal.com
The ROW M030 is $1235 USD shipping included. I bet he has a load of these in stock. When I ordered the X74 I had it 3 days.

Having put Bilstein HDs and Sports on several cars, I don't think I'd do it again. The Bilsteins have gotten by for years by being just a bit better and cheaper than any competition. But they do ride too rough (excessively firm high speed damping) and are too soft in the corners (not firm enough low speed damping), neither one of which is acceptable these days.
The FSDs claim to reverse that, providing solidity in the corners, while absorbing short, sharp, shocks. Sounds great, but a 996 is a bit different than a Golf, so I'd love to hear some real world experiences.

So after checking with Tirerack and other sources it turns out that while Koni is advertising and promoting the FSD's for 996 there are none in this country, apparently none in Europe/Holland and they don't know when they will be available. Great marketing on the part of Koni, advertising a product that they don't really have!!

Something else to add into the mix if your after a decent track setup is an Intrax option. I have installed a set of 1K2s over the winter break, I had the car aligned and corner balanced last week and took it to the track for its first session last weekend and am very impressed. Especially considering the high spring rates. I'm heading to a track I'm more familiar with this weekend so will be building up on my experience with this system. I'd suggest to go with steel bodied front struts though, not the aluminium bodies. They are firm but still road driveable.

Thanks. Still lookinf for first hand experience and feedback for the FSD as I am strictly looking for an opiton other than the OEM replacement struts for normal street use, no track setup for now.
