Default mk1 turn signal clear

I have an 01, I thought that all I needed to do to change out the small orange in the headlights was to change out the bulb.....I waited a week to finally get the chrome bulbs....was all set and happy to get rid of the orange...then BAM!!...the bulbs not even orange, there is an orange plastic piece in there.....I searched and searched but could not find anything....is there some sort of mod to take out the orange pieces??

yes, I saw it and I forget where. You are lucky to have the plastic. Some are molded yellow.

So I have part of yoru answer:
Yes it can be done
Sorry I do not remember where I saw it. Start a www search. I think thats how I found it. It is worth the time and effort for the $$ saved in buying even used clear ones... about 3-400 A SIDE

For the ones that have the orange turn signals (like mine) is there any way to go clear, besides changing the whole headlight housing?

No kidding... to be more accurate, the SECOND headlamp was fun... the first headlamp was a little nerve-wracking (I'm supposed to take a hot soldering iron to what???) If you're in WA state, I'd send it to Ed for him to have more fun...

I pulled the amber plastic block out of my 2000 Porsche 996.
I just used some pliers and broke up the plastic and pulled it out.
