I know this thread is 7 years old, but I have a repair option for what it's worth.


radar-mirror.com will repair ANY auto-dimming rear-view mirror for $99 (you have to remove it and ship it to them and wait for it to return, though). I used them for my BMW M5 and plan to use them again for the 996 Turbo because it has the same issue.

Is auto dimming really worth it? I paid like $20 for a replacement non-dimming version and have no problem raising my arm up to flip the little manual switch.

Guess it depends if you're planning to keep everything original or not...

We have auto-dimming on the Cayman. I hate it.
