I don't think water would be a problem unless it was sealed to the body and even then, how much water is it going to ingest. Motorcycles have had ram air and sealed airboxes for years and many a muscle car has a had a ram air set-up without water ingestion problems. Most water problems are when people place the filter too low and drive through water.

I talked to Joe at Fabspeed and he swears they did extensive testing with regards to the moisture issue and it had no problems. If you think about it the Evoms CAI would suck moisture right to the filter too. Wouldn't it?
I bet it would sound bad *** combined with my PSE.

Actually you're right. People have been using water injection systems to reduce inlet temperatures for years. A nice side benefit is that it leaves a spotless combustion chamber. Injesting small amounts of water is no problem. Turning your intake into a straw in a puddle of water is a problem. My guess is that the amount of water you'd ever get through a filter in this position is pretty small...

+22 hp sounds optomisitic. It would be interesting to know Fabspeeds testing conditions (i.e., is the exact same 996, temperature, what gear, etc.?).
If 22 hp was verifibale and honest, I think most of us would spend $600 for it. I know I would, but I just don't believe it.

I doubt +22 hp as well but if it's half of that I will be happy. I really like the look and sound. I live in S. Cal. and am not a bit concerned about any moisture issues. It's my fun car anyway. I will post after installation. I doubt I will get it dyno'd but in my mind it will be +22

There is no friggin way you are getting any noticable HP (at the wheels) from this thing. Just forget about it.
You are spending your money for sound, better throttle response, and a cute CF cover.
IMHO the design is retarded and backwards, but what do you expect from a company that was selling a silicone hose and an orange cap for $250 and calling it a CAI.
Good luck. I hope it works out for you.
