were getting a little carried away here!600.00 for this?change the factory exhaust(a little restrictive),coilovers possibly(a little expensive)new michilin pilots(expensive but fantastic)these are some of the changes i would consider!,im all for certain upgrades, but trying to beat porsche at there own game well its getting silly!like a previous post pointed out,the x51 conversion gets 25hp more,to think this will give 22 is pure fantasy.to many variables with dyno testing,i suggest researching PCA web site tech forums about these upgrades,im sure youll give it a second thought, this guy joel reiser on the pca forum has some great insight, check it out

What does the X51 conversion include from the factory? Could I add it to my 2001 Mark 1 996?

This site is giving me paranoid delusions I have to say. G@d D@mn IMS, RMS, Intermixing, MAF sensors..... I practically do a PPI every time I get in the thing! Maybe that's a good thing? It's cool though. I am enjoying the hell out of it!
any updates hapich?

Carrera Power Kit - X51 for the 997 ( the 996 version is similar) $16,900 from the factory.

Comprised of modified cylinder heads, carbon-fiber air filter casing (upper part), new variable resonance intake manifold with six tuning flaps, sports exhaust system featuring specially designed twin dual-tube tailpipes and modified engine management.

What tool do I need to remove the MAF housing ? The part the MAF clips into. It looks like it should be a tamper resistant star bit. Is this right and what size?
Thanks anybody.

Joe Fabiani is not evil. He simply makes the same claims for his stuff as all the other liars out there.

The engineer part of me says to remind everyone that our engines are essentially a pump. A 996 engine can suck in 3.6 liters of air 6,800 times per minute. Do you think a factory engineer would design an air intake and filter that allowed less? Fact is the stock system will allow m ore than double that.

The CAI will increase sound - in two ways, more engine noise and a sucking sound from your wallet:
If I bought this and added the Turbonator, could I expect an extra 50-70 hp?

T20 tamper resistant Torx star bit.
It's going to be a real production when I get this thing installed. Pictures, video. I might make an Anime short film.

The X51 kit is what you do if you want 25 horsepower with zero compromise in noise, fuel efficiency, emissions, durability, and reliabilitiy, and you want to enjoy most of that extra power across the rpm spectrum, and money is no object. It's not the only way to get 25 peak horsepower, though even still it's probably the best.

Last time I checked, they don't sell power in dollars per hp. They sell it in compromises. With the X51 package, they chose to compromise only one thing: the price.
