Tonight I was going out to work to finish up a report. Its a nice cool night and I took the 335i. Well, I was in the slow lane and I see a set of HID lights pull up on my rear bumper fast! WTF?!? It changes lanes and it was a murdered out 350Z. Pretty much he was jabbing at his throttle getting me to run. I just stayed in the slow lane and cruised. After a minute or so of trying the driver side window rolls down and some idiot sticks his hand out and gives me a thumbs down. The guy zooms off and begins weaving through traffic.
I keep my pace and he gets stuck behind traffic. Again I am side by side with this clown and he again tries to get me to run. Well, I end up getting ahead of him, he changes lanes, and he begins to ride my ***. He was so close that I couldnt even see his headlights anymore. That's 1. I take a exit and he follows. Perfect. I call in to my co-worker who was on beat and told him to position himself should this idiot follow me into my city. My lane splits into 2 lanes and he gets beside me. The driver looks over and says," Hey bitch.. lets see what that over priced piece of **** can do." and begins revving his engine. The light turns green and he peels out. That's 2.
Speed limit is 35 and he is doing about 50+. That's 3. The next light turns red and we end up next to each other again. Once again I get the verbal abuse. Driver: "Come on bitch. I will smoke your ***." The Passenger: "What a ****ing *****." I turn to them and said," You never know.. there might be cops around." Not sure who said it but I heard " **** the police". The light turns red and he burns out again. That's 4.
My bluetooth goes off and its my partner working beat. I roll up my window and answer my phone. I have him a description of the car and he said he was ready. Light turns green and he sees my partner who has his unit sticking out behind a safeway store and right when he passed my buddy lit his *** up. He pulls over and I pull in behind my buddy and put on my bullet proof vest that was in my trunk.
As my partner backed me up, I went up to the car and identified myself as the police and both of them were in shock. I got his driver license, registration, and insurance. He didn't say anything. I grabbed one of my buddy's cites n hit him up for speeding, exhibition of speed- 2 counts, tinted driver and passenger side windows, and Exhaust. As I filled out the cite I told my buddy to take them out of the car and to tell the driver that his car was getting towed as well.
I went up to the driver and explained to him what I was citing him for and that the Exhibition of Speed was a misdemeanor though we weren't going to arrest him but his car was now mine. He broke down and started to cry!!! Started whimpering and saying " I have finals tomorrow sir! How am I going to get to work?" "Please don't take my car!" The kid was 18 years old and he had to call his dad to pick him up. Needless to say the dad wasn't happy. Tow truck came and took the car. Pretty much he's going to have to pay around 400 bucks to get the car back.
I felt no pity. So lesson is, don't go picking races with people because you never know who you might run into. This kid learned the hard way.

Sucks you can't just drive w/o jackass punks thinking of endangering lives trying to show you up. Good to hear you had the phone and connections to get him off the street before killing himself or someone else.

I'm only 19, but god this puts a smile on my face. Being as young as I am, & working in "ghetto" areas, I experience stuff like this pretty much on a daily basis. People see a "kid" like me in a Porsche & I get the engine revving, tailgating, **** like "Come on rich kid, lets see what you got" & other ignorant remarks. I just ignore them, but I wish I could do something like was mentioned in that story, lol.
The worst one I remember was getting onto an on ramp on the 805 freeway, this Corvette was coming up behind me almost crashing into me, it was 1 lane & he passed me through the emergency lane at WOT & it sounded like he had straight pipes, then he was staying next to me revving his engine & what not. After a while I just rolled down my window, laughed & made a gesture with my index & thumb finger implying he had very small "ponies" & was trying to compensate by revving like a maricona.

And these are the idiots politicians and the uninformed population think of when anyone mentions raising speed limits. Never mind that with these guys speeding isn't really the issue but but driving recklessly is.
...thanks for ruining it for the rest of us!

I wish we could drive as fast as the Germans, but I know the reality is that's impossible because there's too many morons on the road & the problem isn't the speed, but rather the stupidity. Unfortunately that stupidity would cause more severe accidents at higher speed, obviously.
I think what should be done is that it should be made harder for people to get a driver's license, then we can talk about raising speed limits. I'm truly amazed at the people driving who shouldn't be.
I'll admit I've sped & what not, but never to "race" (if you can call that racing) or "show someone up" (these people need to get to a track so they can see what racing really is). It also bothers me because it ruins the image of young people with sports cars. I got a MB SLK320 at 16 (not really a sports car) & the Porsche at 18 & never did any of this stupid crap.

Good story, except for the towing part. I think it's absolute BS that they tow your car as a form of punishment. There is no recourse - that money is gone, whether or not you are found guilty.

Infact, he should get his car towed 10 times.

Sure, but it's a thinly veiled, discretionary fine handed out by the police. It happened to me once. I went to court, proved my innocence, case thrown out etc... but I never got my $1,000 back.

I have zero sympathy for the car being towed. The kid deserved it and a whole lot more.
Thanks for sharing. I hope more 18 year olds read it and realize that there are consequences to reckless driving.

This is a good one, because I have mixed feeling about this one. First, I hate the little dweebs that do shi7 like this, I hated them back in High School and still to this day I think of them as Morons. Back in HS, this is one of the reasons I wouldn't go out and get a "supped" up car, the other is I didn't know how to work on them, so I just figured that I would wait till I could not just afford one, but one I could work on if I needed to.
Back then I knew i would get into trouble back then with a Fast car, not like this clown who would want to race everyone, But I knew i would get into trouble because I was immature and that I had a lot to learn. Now here I am over 20 years later and to be honest, I still feel like I can learn more about how to drive, and second I am aware of the ramifications of me racing down a street.
However, my little Bro. in his "Vette" and his "Psycholone" <spelling?>went thru a fun stage with losing his License and trying to convince me that all Cops where "The Bad Guys", so I always said, "How fast were you going, and he would reply, that doesn't matter, the guy was still a dick! I will say that there was only one area where he was absolutely correct, it was the rudest police station I have ever been into, and I was just there for a verification of something, and they were just short of handcuffing me and locking me up? (A Very Strange incident, that happened twice at the same station.!)
Anyways, my little Bro lost his license a few times when he was driving those. But that Psycholone was fast off the line, but it was one of those small PU's that screamed, C'Mon let's Race.... And as I said, he sure did get into a lot of trouble.) It was funny, he would say he would get pulled over for just driving normally, so I would ride with him, and ironically he never got pulled over.
Me, I have always preferred "Sleepers", and if I couldn't have that, I would just take a nice 911, for some reason everyone is a little spooked from them, and this is just fine for me because I don't want to be out there "Racing" with a bunch of kids who have nothing to lose except their car, while people like me stand to loose quite a bit!
BTW, Anyone got a copy of that old Movie "King of the Mountian" on DVD? I can only find a release on VHS, and will likely have to make a copy, but I thought I would ask just in case someone found one???
Here is the final Scene from you Tube if you are Interested?

Ok, first I should as and not just assume, there are some of us here that remember the Movie "King of the Hill" with Dennis Hopper and Harry Hamlin. There is some really cool racing from back in the day when they were racing down Mulholland Dr. Usually at night, where Dennis Hopper was driving an old Split back Corvette and Hamlin is driving in a very, very Beautiful 356. This is one of the Movies that confirmed the Porsche Mystique for me! Anyway you look at it, the Porsches was just a stunning version of that vehicle.
Overall, not the best acting, but a movie just about ever Porsche, or Corvette owner should own.....But here is the problem, when I went to Amazon, they said they have it, but someone was selling it for $79.99USD (And supposedly whoever bought it never got what they bought because he makes a repark about the seller never even having the Movie and just taking the guys Money and never sending a copy of the movey back to the guy who tried to buy it. But still, at least in my book, $79.99 is pretty steep for the movie and I bet I can find another copy, and when I do I will let everone know where they can acquire their own version. If you have never see it, it is worth watching at least once, if not more times then that. As I said, not a great movie, but it has some cool cars and I believe that if anyone whom here has seen it would agree with me that it merits watching it at least 3-5 or more times.....
If anyone finds it pleas let me know where so I can scoop my copy up asap!!!!!
Ciao
