Sausage biscuits, DE & ugly 996 headlights
Blood sugar was a little off this morning when I started DE (Sat Morning--shouldn't need further explanation). I got a Microwave Sausage and Egg biscuit with the artificial cheese product from the c-store. Didn't want to get foreign material on the steering wheel (grease) so was trying to eat it on the exterior. With fresh wax on the car and a slightly greasy biscuit exterior I was chasing the biscuit down the car each time I set it down until I found a flat spot in front of the driver side windshield on the fender. Put the 44 oz. Ice Tea (no lemon, Un-sweet with a side of sweet and low) in front of it for added insurance and that did the trick. I got to chill and focus on consumption and in no time I was back in business. Don't know if Pinky Lai designed the flat spot in front of the windshield for biscuit consumption but it was a lifesaver. I might forgive him for the terrible boxter lights. I could upload a pic but the biscuit is gone. ...and for all of you about to flame me for criticizing the headlights...whatever. You know they suck and that's why 996's are the cheapest modern 911's on the market (It's not because they blow engines. We know that's a myth). We tolerate the terrible lights cause we can't see them when we're driving and therefore just look terrible to everyone else. And since we pass other chumps quickly and they can't see them from behind us they only get a glimpse. You guys have a great weekend.

You'll remember that Jeremy Clarkson quip when he was reviewing the Boxster and said "nice car but the ugly truth is that everytime you look in your driveway and see it sitting there, it will remind you that you couldn't quite afford a 911"!!
p.s. even if i didn't like my headlights...which i do.....there is so much more to love on these cars that headlights seem very insignificant!!!

Am I the only one that actually PREFERS the 996 headlights?? The MK1 headlights flow so nicely on an aerokit car, they look very "smooth" & the MK2 lights look sharp, agressive, sporty, etc. In my opinion, the round headlights with the blinkers in the bumper is an outdated look, & while I appreciate them on classics like the 993 & before, our cars have more modern lines & deserve modern headlights. You don't see Ferrari still making pop-up headlights, could you imagine that on an F430?? Lol.
On a side note, my brother & I used to work together & we'd always park my 996 & his 997S side by side... People would ALWAYS ask me if mine was newer. Infact, one guy asked him once "what kind of VW is that??" I'm not bashing the 997 though, infact I think it's better looking from every angle, ESPECIALLY those hips. But ironically, the only thing I PREFER from the 996 is the headlights. Ya, I'm crazy, so what?

Nothing against the 997, of course--I bought as new as I could afford a few years ago.

I have no issue with the lights, I liked the Mk1 lights on my 986S and I like the MkII lights on my 996, the return of the classic 911 round headlights on the 997 is great as well.
But it always bugged me that the 986 and 996 Mk1 lights were the same , not because they were bad just because I felt the cars should have their own identity.
And I'm with Raphael, The MK1 lights on an Aerokit car
