Default Can you put round headlights on a 996?

I'm surfing for a 996 mod that would accomodate some round headlights and all i've found are conversions that make a 996 look like a 997 with bumbers and hoods etc. Has anyone seen any set of parts that would be a little less drastic? I don't want a whole 997 look, just like round headlights. Thanks!

As far as bolt on parts I dont know but a good custom, street/hot rod shop could make it happen if they have a good sheetmetal man.

The Strosek style add ons have been discussed here before:

Default thanks for the round headlight info

I never considered a "cover" would get me to round headlights but now that you guys have hipped me to them I have read the threads and checked ebay and the web. Looks like Directcartoys.com has painted ones for $250. Anyone know anything about these vs. the others that are $600+? The cheaper option is to by some $50-$100 ones and them paint them. I think I would rather opt for them painted. I know there not for everyone but after looking at your pics I think they look great.

In 6speed is someone who has tinted his mkI's headlamp surroundings, looked almost decent on a black car. Basically like those covers, but smoother and without blinker/foglight clears.

Here's a photo of mine... the previous owner did the install, so I don't know much about them and cannot give you much info.

I was told that they were Gemballa. There are several sources in slightly different styles and prices, so shop around.

I think I'm the only one that looks at the 996 Mk. 1 and already sees round headlights. The headlight portion of the housing is round and the rest of the housing has always reminded me of the Italian-style headlamp covers that you see on old Ferraris.

Course, maybe I'm just weird...

Best attempt I've seen, thus far.

Maybe I'm nuts... but I actually like the MK II headlights. I have no interest in covering them up.

You probbaly are nuts but thats beside the point, I like the Mk II lights as well, and the Mk 1's look fine as well, had no issue with them when I had my Boxster S

I think the MKII light are mean looking, but I'll admit both a bias and that I didn't like them as much until I first popped one out and realized what a great piece of engineering that assembly is! The only thing I don't like is how useless both the fogs and the lamp washers are.
