Default Dried coolant near spark plug tube

After replacing my rear pads this morning I figured I'd go ahead and take care of the leaking spark plug tube I noticed while doing my plugs. As I shifted my attention to the area I noticed dried coolant along the bottom edge of the engine near the first spark plug/ground strap. The arrows in the pictures point to the general location of the dried coolant. Any suggestions as to what might be leaking coolant in that area? I don't see any hoses or other obvious items mounted that might leak around there.

PS--I lifted this image from Renntech to dragging my camera downstairs. So there's no dried coolant in this picture, I'm just illustrating the location.

Thanks,

Shawn

That is the 4-6 head side with the ground strap. Not alot of cooling lines in that area, there are two that are below this location, and the oil cooler/heat exhanger is above this location. Not likely that the coolor would be leaking, and hard for the coolant to go up from the hoses. What makes you think it is coolant?

Its reddish orange in color and has the crusty look of dried coolant. It might not be, but that's my best guess. I agree it's a very odd location. Maybe I'll just clean it up and see if anything reappears. That should make it easier to trace.

My guess is that your coolant reservoir is slowly leaking, and the coolant is migrating to that location.

I'll try to snap a picture today. I'm pretty sure this is new since I changed my plugs about 60 days ago. I can't be 100% sure but I'm usually pretty good about noticing anything out of the ordinary.

I guess anything is possible but a leak from the reservoir would mean that this migrated from the opposite side of the engine. I looked to see if there was any path for it and didn't see anything obvious.

Again, this is the 4-6 side (right front corner). The coolant reservior is on the other side of the engine (left rear) so it wold be very hard for any leak from the reservior to migrate to this location. I think you plan to clean if and see it if reappears is the best idea.
