Default centre console delete

What's involved with deleting the centre console? That's the one with the cd holders right?

I see and hear about a centre console delete "kit" but what does this kit include, and where would I get one? Couldn't I just remove the console, move the heated seat switches up to the upper console and robert is your fathers brother?

Thanks.

I have that in my car - and think it looks great. It really help make the interior look clean and uncluttered.

i put it in my car. it is great, provides room for my leg in front of the shifter.

you have to remove the center console (takes about 20 min even if you dont know what you are doing). need TOREX tools.

while you are at it, you might as well put in a short shifter kit.

i did. big improvement.

yes, nice mod as it frees up leg room (my leg used to rub against the console and I developed an irritation in that spot). The only issue is if you want to install a full screen stereo/nav system...you would have to then find a location for the a/c controls (glovebox?)

Right... so you're saying I have to *remove* the centre console in order to delete it

Let me wrap my head around that for a minute.....

OK - I think I get it now.

The question wasn't so much whether I should do it or not, the question was what does the "kit" include. I guess I was asking if I could remove the console with spending the money on the kit.

Yes - the problem is that my leg rubs against it too. Irritating as hell. I'm a big enough guy that I need as much rom as I can get.

A full screen/nav is the last thing I would want to install in my car so no worries there. Looking forward to this mod actually.

right. is see what i wrote. funny

what i meant to say, is that to install it, you have to get the entire center console out to gain access to 2 bolts at the front of the center console into which the "center console delete" piece is held down.

then one re-installs the long center console.

i will take some photos of the completed job and post them later.

THe kit comes with a piece of molded, foam-backed carpet and a plastic trim item, both of which you will need unless you want a big gaping hole showing a bunch of wires and sheetmetal. I've done this install and it is awesome. Really improves the look & feel of the interior.

Cool - I looked on the Suncoast website and it really looks nice, sort of retro like the old 911's. So what does it leave you with: radio & environmental controls only?

Thanks Roy - I think the issue is that you're referring to the shifter console as the centre console. That's what I thought it was called too, but apparently that's called the rear console. The centre console is the one under the radio...the one that's being deleted.

At least that's what I think.

Thanks for the detail though.

Jasper, our parts guy ( KJ ) said you called wanting to order the kit and they couldn't find the part #.

I found it and gave it to them, for others looking for it try:

Porsche 996 Console Delete Kit

986-552-113-02-A10 Console Lining Black
986-552-241-02-A03 Trim Black
