Unhappy Well guys, it’s been great, but.....

Well guys, it’s been great, but I believe it is time for me to move on. Those of you that have been here for a few years know how much I absolutely love the 911. I was hoping I could get back into another Porsche by now but with the job situation as it is, that is just not going to happen.

I want to thank those of you who welcomed me to the Rennlist family four years ago, 4/2/05 to be exact. You made this Newbie feel very welcome here. Yes, unfortunately I was one of “them” once myself. <shudder> I have learned more about these wonderful cars than I ever thought I would, and much of that knowledge has come from my fellow Rennlisters.

Also, thanks for putting up with my corny jokes and my relatively poor attempts at humor. I will admit that at times I redirected (OK, high-jacked) some threads with some OT remarks, and for that I apologize. Please know that my bantering and jokes were always meant in jest and were never intended to hurt anyone, and if I stepped over the line at any time, again, I apologize. I hope that I brought a smile to a few faces over the years, because without smiles and laughter, life can get very tiresome.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Thanks for helping me make fun of my !@#$%^&* Honda. That made driving the POS a little more palatable.

I have one final request from my Rennlist friends. Please say a prayer for my wife, my daughter, and me on May 13th of this year. That day will mark the 10th anniversary of my son’s death. For those of you that don’t know the story, my son, Damian died in his sleep when he was 11 years old. To this day we do not know the cause of death. As far as we knew, he was as healthy as the day was long.

He was extremely bright and intelligent, and had a perpetual smile on his face. People that knew him told me after the funeral that “he had a smile that would light up a room.” In fact, over 20 people used that exact phrase when remembering Damian. I had no idea that he had touched so many lives during his short time here until I saw over 300 people at his funeral. His death is such a waste of a beautiful life. He was, in my admittedly biased opinion, a remarkable little boy and we miss him dearly.

While it has been extremely difficult for my wife and me to deal with this tragedy, I think in some ways it has been even more difficult for our daughter Devyn, who is Damian’s twin sister. Twins have a very special bond that few of us understand or have ever experienced. What makes it even more difficult for Devyn is the fact that they were each other’s best friend. Devyn is now 21 years old and finishing her junior year in college. Please think of us, especially Devyn, on May 13th.

I may come back and lurk from time to time to see how everyone is doing. If our situation changes dramatically for the better and I am able to get back into a Porsche, you guys will be among the first to know. Thanks again to each and every one of you. I hope each of you has a great life!

Moderators: I know that this is Off Topic, but I am requesting you leave this thread on the 996 Forum. If you don’t feel this should stay here, then I would prefer you delete this thread rather than move it the OT Forum. I don’t want the memory of my son put on the OT Forum, intermixed with all of that strange stuff.

Good bye, my friends!

May the Lord himself bless you and your family. I hope that your job situation improves so that you can grace us with a new 911 someday. But more iimportantly I wish you and your family the best.

Unreal story, Tim. We'll be praying for you and your family on the 13th and hope the job situation turns around so you can rejoin your Rennlist bretheren. We're gonna miss you in the meantime...peace.

Take care, Tim. It's been fun reading your posts over the last few years. Somebody has to keep the noobs straight!

Good luck to you. I'm sure things will turn around.

My family and I will be thinking about you and your family on May 13th.

Tim,

I been a lurker in the 996 forum for quite some time and have always enjoyed your posts - especially regarding the Honda

I can't begin to fathom how a parent could possibly deal with the loss of a child. My best to you and your family. It's obvious that you are a very strong person to continue to cope with this tragedy. I certainly hope your son is in a better place.

Regards,
Joe

Tim, I'm terribly sorry to hear about what happened to Damian. I often wondered if something like that happened to my daughter (only child), how on earth would I even be able to handle it.

As far as leaving rennlist, it's hard for me to believe. I mean, hanging out on a Porsche forum is also about the members, not 100% about being a Porsche owner. I still hang around the BMW forum that I was on when I was driving a Bimmer. Got used to the crowd and just wanted to be around.

Are you trying to pull an early April Fool's joke on us??? Hmmmm....

Tim,

It's my only regret that I did not buy my Porsche sooner so I could get to know you better. You are truly a stand-up guy.

I hate to be selfish and say don't go, but I understand. God bless you and your family. Let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Take care,

///Michael

Tim,

My thoughts will be with you and your family.

I want to thank you for such a warm welcome to the board and honestly, your comments - and the anticipation of your comments - are one of the reasons for my frequent (constant?) visits to the forum.

I regret not knowing you longer, but I am privileged for even this short time.

Farewell friend and good luck!

Rudy

Tim, although I'm new here, I will truly miss your wittisism and your knowledge. I was just warming up to do battle of wits, once I got my car out of the hospital. I need your help.

So, please browse thru the forum and say hi.

I will take a huge step for a nubi, but, as far as I am concerned, I wilI will look forward to your return....probably with a 997.2, white, blue leather, etc.

God speed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Wed, May 13....

Your buddy, you just don't know it yet.

Stu

Tim,
First of all - love you man
You have been the rock of this room and of your family thru what I hope none of us will ever have to endure. You are a steller individual, a gentelman, a comedian, friend and a counsolor.

I understand it's time, but your time here will never be forgotten by us or by you. I pray the times we shared continue to bring joy to all the lives you have touched. I pray some of us will continue to touch your life in a meaningful way, and help you thru the years ahead.

Like so many will say, I am speachless, and choked up... but proud to have been here with you this last year or so. If there is anything I can help you with, you know I would.

Kindest and warmest regards
your friend - Ed
