I bought these. The first pair HAS to be driving shoes, right? ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I could never do heel/toe throttle matching, so I got he second pair to pair to do TOE/TOE throttle matching. The only thing I can't figure out is why they have the name "Ronnald" embroidered on the heal.

I bought a pair of Piloti's a couple years ago from Griots Garage. Griots is notoriously higher than others, but they had a short custom run on some that were a particular style that appealed to me. The shoes are very comfortable and work perfectly for daily driving.
I then tried them at the track, of course, but found that they lacked the sensitivty of my real racing driving shoes from Simpson. The Piloti's are a far jump better than regular street tennis shoes or the like. They are very comfortable, and do provide more access to the pedals and a lot more feedback.
But racing shoes still provide a much closer contact with the car because they are meant for driving, not walking. The soles of racing shoes are soft. The soles of Piloti's are soft-er than tennis shoes and with no clunky overhangs, but are still designed to be every day walking shoes.
The comparison is this: A guy trades in his Camry and buys a new Mustang. He then raves about what a great sports car the Mustang is... then he buys a Porsche 911...
So, I feel that Piloti's are great AT the track, but not ON the track. They are however, much better than regular tennis shoes when it comes to driving.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I bought the Spyder model. It has a flat bottom and a rounded heel. It is pretty stiff, not the compliant type that I have seen in specialty racing shoes, nor does it cover the ankle like they often do.
This model does not have any fire protection built in. I had to buy some nomex socks to meet tech in my one and only race recently.
I think it is a perfectly fine shoe for DE or just driving. Works better than tennis shoes. Probably not the best choice for real racing equipment.
