Default Where to get a Cheap Lightweight Flywheel

I realize that this may have been posted previously however the search function is not working.

Where is the best place to get a cheap lightweight flywheel for a 2000 996? I need a new flywheel. Interested in a lightweight. Do not want to spend much.

Also, are 3.4l and 3.6l 996 flywheels the same?

Fidanza is the least expensive LWFW I found for a 996.

I had one in my old Prelude which performed flawless. Anyone have a Findaza installed in their 996 to provide feedback?

From what I remember alot of people ordered that Fidanza unit only to find out it doesn't really fit a 996. Wrong number of holes to mount to the back of the crank.

I think Aasco is the only one on the market that is proven to work in our cars.

I'd think you'd want to avoid 'cheap' and 'flywheel' in the same thought process.

I actually asked Findanza and the vendor I bought the LWFW from if it was a 8 or 9 bolt flywheel for the 996 c2/c4. They 'confirm' it is 8 bolts. Plus I never had the LWFW 'rattle' on my Prelude which is a big plus.

Findanza is inexpensive (not cheap) for Porsche prices but somewhat pricey for Honda application. Personally that is probably the route I will be going when the need comes to change out my clutch. No, offense to Aasco our board sponsor.

Man, we Honda guys never get a break! Because it's for a Honda, they know thay can jack up the prices, and we'll pay it! I wish we could get cheaper parts like the Porsche guys can!

Andy is correct! The C2/C4 engine has a different number of holes for the flywheel than the GT3 block so the AASCO is to my knowledge the only aftermarket flywheel that fits a C2 and C4. The Fidanza flywheel does not work with the C2/C4 engine block. I did also investigate the Fidanza route as the price was tempting compared to AASCO.

I'm happy with my move to an (AASCO) LWFW more than a year back but you need to consider the downsides: rattle and more significant - noise while the engine is not under load, so e.g. while cruising with 3k RPM.

LOL, I can see how it can get misinterpretted.

LWFW Porsche (ballpark prices off the top of my head)
Fidanza- $380ish
AASCO- $900ish

LWFW Honda
Fidanza- $180
ACT- <$180

So for Honda it is actually pricey compared to other comparable brands but for Porsche it is inexpensive compared to AASCO.
