Common cars??
For those that think Porsche's are "common". Porsche's US market share is 0.2%

Yes, they are like tribbles. Worse yet, if two 996s or 997s are parked near each other, a Boxster appears by the next morning. Worse than guppies I tell ya.

Pretty common around here. Boxsters seem to dominate, but I'll see everything from '70s and '80s 911, 964, and 993 up to 996 and 996TT on pretty much a daily basis. Living within a 10 mile radius of a Porsche dealer and at least three independent shops might contribute somewhat to that.

In a high per capita income state like New Jersey, I'd expect to see alot of Porsches. Except that I don't (of course the real money in New Jersey is in the northern part of the state!). I, on the other hand, rarely see them in the southern and central parts of the state.

Geographic is right. My son and I parked next to a new Boxster S at the local coffee house this weekend. When we returned, my son says, 'wow dad, look at all the Porsches parked next to us!' We counted 9, including ours, scattered in our row. And mine was the only poorman's pcar (i.e., 'base' model). Or maybe that was the lonely Boxster owner. Kid you not...

It's more economic than geographic. The danger, my fellow high-end Porsche owners, is thinking our cars are anywhere near "common". I've driven through parts of my own county where the average salary is half of what our cars cost originally.
We are all very lucky to be able to own and maintain these expensive cars! We should never loose sight of that!

I am lucky to see another one per month. If it wasn't for the interstate I don't think I would. But you have to realize that I live here: Rolla, Missouri
The median income for a household in the city was $26,479, and the median income for a family was $38,975. Males had a median income of $31,861 versus $19,625 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,916. About 13.8% of families and 22.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.3% of those under age 18 and 13.8% of those age 65 or over.
