We'll be heading from Raleigh to Tanglewood for the NC Wine festival, then to a few wineries with lunch and dinner somewhere along the way. Should be fun - one of the perks to the Zone Rep job is making the time to get together with the other regions in Zone 3.

A good friend of mine also snapped some pictures while the groups were on track. Here are a few of the better ones of me.
Late Pass, I know
A Challenge car, in the Green Group. You can tell how Dell feels about it.
I stayed on him in the twisties for a couple laps

Bob,
Lookling forward to buying you that cop of coffee.....
All the best,
Charles

so....this weekend may have been the first time we have a chance to meet everyone!
HOWEVER, here's the problem: we are attending the Hurricane Region Winery tour, which we're meeting up with everyone at Camille’s Sidewalk Café in Brier Creek, 8411 Brier Creek Parkway. We need to be there by 8:30. mapquest puts it about 30 minutes from the Wake Zone. so basically we'd stop in, grab a cup of coffee, and leave - not very fun.
Plus, there is this little issue of getting Nadine up earlier than she needs to be. THAT will be a challenge.
So, looks like we will be in the area, just not at the Wake Zone. One of these days we'll make it.... (I think Charles still owes me a coffee )

Bob,
Terrific pictures of the track....you've got a 2nd career in photography.....but from your pictures it's clear
I need to lose about 10-15 lbs(plus it will make my car faster)......

Great get-together on Saturday, everyone. It was a slightly smaller group, but that was probably due to the farewell cookout we had for our friend Helmut and his family in the afternoon.
Here's who was there for breakfast:
Scott (White C4S)
Dell (The Escalade)
Charles (Blue 996 cab)
George (Black 996 cab)
Ken (grey 928S4)
Steve (Blue 993)
Randy (Blue 996 aero)
Michael (black 911 Carrera)
Bob (Black 996 aero)
Ken, I'm sorry I didn't snap a photo of your 928 before you left. Next time.
Have a great week everyone. See you next Saturday.

As Bob mentioned, due to yesterday's going away cookout for Helmut and his family, turnout at WZ was light and the fun run lighter.
So, I'll repost a few from past runs that show Helmut's cars in action, sort of as a mini tribute to one of the finest people anyone could hope to meet:
Out in front driving his yellow Cayman S, I hear the voice of John Facenda, describing how Helmut is leading the pack through sinewy curves under a dreary autumn sky:
Helmut in his blue S2000 CR, following Jeff with camera attached on the side:
Helmut bringing up the rear in his white GTI (this was obviously a bad picture day since that's the best I could come up with, sorry):
Filling up after a run, Helmut with Bruce and Bob in the background:
The cookout was great - we will miss Helmut and we wish he and his family well in their new endeavors.

Great idea, Michael. I'll see if I have any I can post.
FYI - it was around 7:00pm today, and I finished my yard work and errands for the day. So, as the sun was setting, I took a nice quiet drive in my Porsche on our usual path. It was great - just a winding road, the windows down and the sound of the engine.
There are some beautiful roads with equally beautiful scenery around Jordan Lake.
Sorry - no photos. If you're in the area, you'll have to personally check it out sometime.

Neal....have you thought about swinging by the Wake Zone COffee Shop Saturday? Several of us have the SSK that you would be able to try out. I have the B&M in my 996CAB.

Hey - thanks for the offer, but I had to make a decision while the car was in the shop.
I ended up getting the OEM 997 shift assembly, the change shouldn't be as drastic as the B&M which is what I wanted.
Thanks again,
-Neal
