You did, but don't worry. Ken "driving miss daisy" Rudd is the best, most proficient 928 driver I have had the pleasure to instruct

Thanks, Dell. It's good to be back in action. After the fun run, my shoulder was really sore. Rehab is going to take awhile.

Forgot to ask a few other questions this morning at coffee.

1: Is there anywhere in the triangle area where I can try on different helmets?
2: Do you need to wear one of those hoods under a helmet?
3: I was thinking of a half helmet. Any thoughts on them good, or bad?

I had a full face when I got my first motorcycle and hated it in the warm weather. I was extremely uncomfortable wearing it. Mind you that was the summer up north in NY where it doesn't get as hot as it does here. I switched to a open helmet and preferred it much better.

1. VIR is the best place and it's only a 1 hour drive (and a great one at that).
2. A balaklava and no it's not needed but highly rec'd.
3. Personal preference. If you are an instructor or student the closed is better since the mic will be shielded from wind. Also, if you ever have any debris come in the car or god forbid you wreck, you will be glad you have a full face. It also gives you endless options for shield (I have a tinted, anti-fog shield so I don't have to wear sunglasses).

Safety, while you want it to be comfy, doesn't always get to be that way.

Thanks Dell,

I had a feeling it might mean a trip to VIR. That was a great drive, and I'd love to look around the track again and watch some more cars running.

I wasn't thinking about using a radio. I would imagine being able to communicate well with the instructor to be the most important thing when you're starting out.The tinted visor part would also help since I wear glasses.

I guess it's really apples to oranges comparing it to how it felt on the bike. I wouldn't be in direct sunlight since there would be a roof over my head supplying some shade. On the bike the sun used to turn my helmet into a mini oven.
