Mostly PCA obligations... do you really want to know my calendar?
Suffice it to say, I have a PCA event to attend every single weekend from now to Christmas, not counting Thankgiving weekend - where we will be going to TX to visit Nadine's brother.
Cars & Coffee is first weekend of the month:
January was New Years weekend- no chance getting up early for coffee
February it snowed - we were suppose to visit NCCAR that day, remember?
March was CMP DE
April was event with Alabama REgion in Birmingham
May was Quail Hollow golf tournament (a non-PCA weekend!!)
June was winery tour with Hurricane Region
July was Parade in St. Charles
and we did make it to August...on our way to Asheville for the Carolinas PCA In den Bergen event at Waynesville CC

Out of the 33 Saturday's so far this year, we've had 22 that have been PCA events, and 5 that have been personal (like a week vacation, golf tournament, etc)
OK, so yes, we've had 6 weekends since January 2 to go have coffee.... and two of those were suppose to be the NCCAR DE weekends.

You asked...

It almost sounds like to be a zone rep you have to be retired?

Most are....
but, to be fair, I don't HAVE to do all this. The real problem is that Carolinas Region is very active, and with Nadine being on the DE committee and Race Chair, we end up doing a lot of Carolinas stuff IN ADDITION to my ZR duties.

Figure Carolinas DE's, race, a couple autocrosses, Porschefest, board meetings, holiday party - that alone takes up 14-15 weekends. Add the fact that I am suppose to (not required) visit all 14 of my regions each year, Petit LeMans & Barber car corrals that the Zone REps are in charge of running (and I helped with VIR), Winter Board meeting, Parade, Zone Presidents meeting, etc. And those are just my basic 'obligations', though my predicessors did not visit all the regions each year. I feel it's my job to help them and work with them.
But even free weekends, we end up doing PCA stuff.
Take the VIR Club Race. Nadine wanted to meet with a few potential sponsors for our Club Race, so we headed up for the day and met with them face to face, instead of via email. Or this past weekend, we went to CMP to talk to the track about some changes, a pit timing loop, met with Apex Performance, and a few others. All good trips, but all time consuming.

Honestly...I have no idea what I would do with a free weekend...maybe yard work??

Don't get me wrong, I love being a Zone Rep. Is it busy? Absolutely. But you don't go being a ZR without really wanting to get involved. There's a saying on the national staff that Zone Rep is the best job in PCA. I completly agree. other than a quarterly report, a monthly conference call, and a few meetings, its pretty easy. We don't actually run or do anything (other than the car corrals) we just visit, help out, provide guidance with rules and such. And our input is what shapes PCA policy because we are so close to working with the membership and region boards.

Had no idea what your work was doing with you these days which is why I asked about during the week. Now if I could just figure out how to get rid of working during the week I could do coffee all the time

Unfortunately, I have time during the week (making no money will do that), nobody else does...

A slightly cooler Saturday at coffee which was a welcome change, then nice easy drive to Greensboro for the Speedwerks Open House and Swap Meet.

Great pics, Scott. BTW - another superb shot of Dell here!

Or...Dell is giving the guy next to him the modern day version of 'Talk to the Hand' brush off....'Talk to the iPhone'...because this text is way more important than what you are saying!
