Default The Gillette Shaving Cream Cap Mod (AKA Orange Cap Mod)

So I could not find the orange cap and started looking for alternatives. Here is one that fits perfectly without the danger of it being sucked back in. Pictures say it all.

Simply put the cap on the chamber opening and tighten. Takes less than 10 minutes.

Enjoy the nicer intake sound.

Darin,

The orange cap mod makes a louder intake sound but only at wide-open-throttle. THere are no NP gains. Kind of like when you were a kid and clipped baseball cards on you bike to make ot sound cool.

I put the cards on my S4 wheels - awesome sound and cheaper than Borla exhaust.

Phil, from what I understand, the S4 did need SOMETHING!

This mod blocks the Helmholtz resonator that is in the top of the air box. The resonator dampens the intake acoustics especially in the lower frequencies and this also smooths the airflow backpressure at the MAF.

Blocking the resonator makes the intake sound louder and adds 50 IHP*.

too funny.

It's been a while since I read the orange cap threads, was there a CEL/MAF type issue over time?

Default Here is the Porsche description of the Helmholtz Resonator function

It is used as an aid to the MAF and is it is referred as a "Muffler" here:

so increased turbulence to MAF would result in ECU causing car to run richer? leaner?

Probably imaginary, but I thought it reduced throttle lag. Maybe by making the air chamber smaller. It's been in mine forever.
