Wayne, my Porsche has been parked for a couple weeks due to a slipping clutch. I now have a little more sympathy for you guys who live back east, where 911s can't be driven year around...I'm having Porsche withdrawls. Santa is bringing me a LWFW and I will still need to buy a HD clutch and pressure plate (Spec stage 2). Between that and my project cars, my mod budget is shot. Looking at this post and seeing the parts on a shelf in my garage is as close as I'm going to get for a while.
I can empathize on the impatience to get the jobs done on the car, but as you guessed, no sympathy on not being able to drive the car. I can't wait to hear how the clutch job goes.

This time of year drives me nuts.... usually I at least get to drive the car a little in December, but not this year... at this rate looks like it will be March before the car comes out to play again.

Gotta hate Winter. At least winter is not as long in PA as it was when I lived in MA.

Thanks,

My black 996 was my first Porsche and unfortunately, it was totaled a little over 2 years ago when a younger kid hit me on the way home from work. Killed the car and damaged me in the process (the car gave it's life to save mine). I replaced it with the silver 99 about a year ago now.

I really miss that black car as it was nicely built. PSS9's GT3 control arms, sways, sport seats, big reds, SSk, Fabspeed exhaust, intake and a fantastic alignment. That car was brilliantly neutral and you got TTOS at will. It had a steep learning curve but my goodness was it fun. The previous owner was a track nut and took it on the one lap. The silver one is near stock (Fabspeed is all it has) and is much more forgiving but not as quick. It still will TTOS but it's less predictable (consistent) with the right tire pressures. I suspect the 36k mile stock suspension needs to be freshened up.

This thread reminds me I haven't taken any pictures of the 996 with my new DSLR camera!!!.

I'll contribute to the revival none the less:

You sound like my father-in-law when he complains about 3 days of rain in a year in Tucson.

I thought I had put mine on, but I guess not. I love the aero, but understand the opposition. I actually like both on the older cars, but I think the 996 is much better looking w/ aero. I think pro-aero crowd love the looks of and the sport of racing and the anit-aero are more street car types. Just a theory. A great friend of mine is a big vintage car guy (has a 61 E-type and a 66 Aston DB6) and he prefers the non-aero kinda cars.

Anyway... here are some pics.
