Default A thread dedication to MK1 aeros

Though I have a C4S, I feel compelled to publicly announce my unrequited love for the MK1s with the full factory aerokit. I have absolutely enjoyed viewing pics of exlonoder/redridge's rides lowered on 19s. My boy chao's got that nice OEM that was nicely lowered recently. Nycebo I know is looking to add the rear strakes which I think are absolutely critical. Chads996 (he that loves to ignore me) has finally turned around and is adding it to his white MK1. My boy ls911 building his up now.

The Ben Choi 996 style checklist is as follows:

-Add aerokit (preferably factory)
-Add adjustable coilovers to lower
-Add 19" wheels that fit w/o spacers and ideally 19x11s in the back to maximize the steamroller look (Champion RG5s, OZ IIIs, Work Brombachers, etc)

Do the above and you maximize the eye candy, but don't stick out so much that you look like you just stepped outta DUB magazine and ran into new money. People be like: damn that looks so different and so good, yet so factory. Elegant bling.

Here are some samples of MK1 aeros that do it up proper (and I'm 10000% positive they look that much better in person and in movement):

Ben, you and I are in 100% agreement on this one. I love the MK1 aero kit. Each of those cars pictured is stunning. I have the OEM aero kit waiting to be installed on mine. I don't have the rear skirts yet. I don't like the look from the back, but in all of those pictures it looks perfect. Thanks for posting the eyecandy.

Please post them pics up when you're good and ready.

Just for kicks, I'm going to sneak in an MK2 that I love (follows my guidelines above, but with a little more aftermarket pizazz):

Why it's so cool to have good offset wheels with dish and polished lip... see how that shiny silver lip shows even at a slight angle from head-on? That's money, right there. It looks so good when you see a car like that coming towards you as-is. It's insane.

P.S. The wheels on this one are the very nice Work Rezax II

Ben,
Great thread.
It's funny, when I first saw a Mk1 aero on the street (back in '99 or '00) I thought it looked terrible. Over the last few years I find them to be the best looking of all the 996's.

Cheers,
Stan

We're two peas in a pod, aren't we? Hopefully we can battle out in one thread, but be 911 buds in another.

I'm just trying to get a measure of my sense of style for the 911 and spruce this place up a bit leveraging the very fine examples we have amongst the 911 enthusiast community which is pretty damn small.

9.9 out of every 10 911s I see are bone stock. Yesterday, I saw a 997 being run through an automatic car wash with them huge rotating mops. Cars like the ones in this thread have obviously been modified with someone with a good eye for the 911 aesthetic, and more importantly, an undeniable love/passion for their hobby/toys.

This thread is a celebration of sorts.

Scour the classifieds in the various forums and ebay. If you're patient you should find all the parts that way.

I don't meet the 3rd criteria...not for lack of wanting 19' wheels but because I seem to spend all of my "fun" money on my track habit.

Ben, great timing with this thread. I'm just starting to get my ideas together on how and what to do with mine. If anyone has cab pictures or ideas, please post.

You know I love your ride, Audion30s. You just need them rear strakes and you're good. And I thought of you when I saw the white one on LMs. I know you want it!

The cab looks perfect with the same kit, but with a less aggressive rear spoiler. Go for it, bud.

mmmmmmm...LM's. That White vivid car was my desktop background for nearly a year prior to me purchasing the 996....and the primary reason that I nearly bought the car that Chad now owns. Alas, the red one was meant to be.
