Default New Shoes!

I just had my Kinesis wheels installed on my project car. I weighed one of the rear OEM polished turbo twist wheels....29lbs per my bathroom scale. I went with 8.5x18 and 10.5x18 up from 7.5x18 and 10x18. I bet the new wheels were about 20lbs for the rears. It is probably my imagination, but my car feels faster now...at least 20hp.

Tires are 225 front and 295 rear. I just sold my BMW, so the aero kit will be installed shortly.

Nice!

I just got a track set of wheels and tires, and saved at least 4 pounds per corner, it definitely was a noticeable difference. Steering wheel feels 'lighter', car is nimbler, and I don't have before/after numbers to prove it, but I believe it is faster.

Why did you go so small on the rubber in the front? I would have expected 235, or maybe even 245 on 8.5" wheels...

Nice. BTW, it's not your imagination. Loss of unspring weight will really make the car feel, move, swing, mambo, rumba, and tango quicker.

Mark, it's perfect for you... blue and black!

It's different from the rest.
I do like the wheels but believe they are a bit of a stretch with blue (I originally thought it would look better). As a thought, maybe polish/paint the lips + the calipers blue to match the car? Just painting the calipers red might be enough to give it that splash? I do like it way better than with the old wheels. It is a great project you took on, I could never do it.
Go dog go

Hey Mark,

I love your car and I love your wheels... just not nutz about them together. Enjoy the unsprung weight, it does make a noticeable diff. Just think those wheels are too dark for that pretty blue car.

Edit: maybe I'll change my mind after the aero kit. Somehow I think that will matter.

Cheers!

tooloud, thanks...done.
Paul, thanks I think the aero kit will help also. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the graphics also. Picture Bella's car in blue.
BK, thanks..I can't wait to get your taco tail on it. I have all the other parts. I just have to get the paint going.
Mother , that looks cool. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I saw some interesting wheel colors at the powercoating shop today. I might think about a body colored stripe on them when I have the aero kit painted or just painting the center caps iris blue. I hope your search for a new engine is going well.
I have no idea what I'm going to do about the center caps. I have three of the original Kinesis caps (pictured). I don't know if I can purchase another matching one. My nice metal polished caps don't fit good on these wheels...so I'm not going to bother having them powdercoated. Any ideas would be appreciated. For now, I'm going capless.

New wheels, BMW sold, unsprung weight loss....you are on a roll Mark. Well done, now I can't wait to see the change with the aero kit.
