Default Nav Install, need to move Climate Control??

After my recent purchase of an 02 996 C2, and the fast approaching and inevitable hands free calling law in CA. I've decided to install either a Pioneer or Kenwood Double Din GPS,Bluetooth, IPOD (make ya breakfast all at the same time) head unit!

However, there is a problem. The climate control on my 996 is above the stock becker unit, which means I would need to relocate the climate control to the bottom area of the console to free up a double din area.

I've seen the climate control mounted below on many cars, so my question is; can the climate control unit be mounted underneath in the lower console easily and is there enough reach on the existing wiring???

I'd like the climate control unit to go in place of the CD holder which is above a small storage compartment on my model????

Any help/advice would be appreciated from a more experienced P'car tech. https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlin...n.gif:bowdown:

Cheers,

I did, just a little difficult to find what you're looking for unless you have the terminology down. Thanks though. Cheers, Karl.

Grooving in a 996

Welcome on board. Looks like you have a very nice p-car but it's kind of hard to see it. Before all hell brakes loose, do you have any more pics to post, bigger is better

You will hear soon from the one that keeps an eye on this sort of things.
By the way happy Birthday Tim! Hope you are still standing, or say at least sitting up straight

Hope you had a fine day
Any good gifts worth sharing?

BTW, what's up with Husker's pics, no show so far. You might have to press him a bit

Ok, don't have many yet, which is surprising actually!!! Hope this works, will upload a few more when I have a chance!!

Just got shot of a 2004 F150, and finally found a decent 996, with everything I was looking for, black on black, tiptronic, 3-spoke, bose, tecknic, custom... it's pretty much flawless, apart from one chip on the front bumper... totally stoked and it's well quite frankly an adventure every time you drive it.

Did my first oil change the weekend and all seemed to go great - thanks to the posts and research I found through Rennlist and loren!!!

Great resource of reliable info - well most of the time! :-)

Next DIY project - Pioneer AVIC installation!!! Can't wait!

The stock amber side markers on the car. Most guys replacethem with clear side markers, which your car already has.

Yes the wiring on the TC is long enoughto move to lower position. If you move to lowest location you will need a different bezel trim piece which is in-expensive, i.e. less than $5 as I recall.

Karl, check your PM. If you just want to install a bluetooth device, that can be added to your factory radio since your car is pre-MOST (pre MY2003).

I added a Parrot CK3100 to my 02....

It seems all you want to do is add bluetooth. you don't have to change the entire head-unit to do that...unless you want/need the navigation feature also.

Ok - that's spooky. I was just online looking at the 3100!!!!

It seems you can get one now for around $80-100 on ebay. I have the Becker kit with the ipod/phone mute already installed (BNS-1319-116).

Also, my wife informs me that I don't need the NAV! I guess she'll be giving directions from now on - great!!!!

1. How does it work, given the slight road noise from the 996?!?!
2. Did you fit it - if yes, how was the install?
3. Where did you mount it? I'm thinking inside the *** (cigarette in Brit speak) tray!
4. Mic location. Where did you run the wires?
4. Did you just hook up the becker phone mute cable to the Parrot device?

Any pics?

Thanks in advance.

K
