Default Seat warmer does not work

Recently, I notice my driver side seat warmer does not work. The passenger side works perfectly. When I press the button for the seat warmer for the driver side, the red lights goes on and off right away. Any ideas what I should look for to fix this?

I would start by checking the connections and the switch. I do not have heated seats, but I would guess that it's it possible to pull the bat wing and check the connection or swap the connector to the passenger switch to see if it is the switch to start.

It could be the switch, the relay or one of the elements... If it IS a switch, let me know - I have a brand new one that Pelican won't take back (it was special order, but turns out I don't need it).

It is probably the relay, not the switch, but in any case here are the part numbers and current list prices:

Relay 996.618.521.00 $145.36
Switch 996.613.152.00 (AO2?) $29.52

Careful on the seitch as there is a mat finish and a gloss finish depending on the year of your car. I think the AO2 is for the gloss finish. I was surprised by the current price on the realy, a few years ago is was only $52.47. About 3 years ago I added the heated seat to my C4, got all the parts from Jeff at Sunset, they sell parts for 15% over cost and he is very knowledgable. Also look at www. dennisvogel.com under projects for the seated heat installation. This is the guide I used to add the heated seats to my car. While his car is a boxster, the install is basically the same except the location of the switches. The illustrations show the location of the relays, how to remove the seats, etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys!

Dharn55: where is the relay located at? Is it near the fuse?

Under the seat on a little bracket. Again, look at the website I listed, it has illustrations which show the location.

Maybe because its the holiday and you gained way to much weight and you cant feel the heat through the extra "insulation"

I have a similar problem. Except the glowing red light (different intensity of red from the "high heat" red light and the "low heat" yellow light), seems to go and off with the position of the seat (front to back). ie I can get it to go into and out of this fault mode by moving the seat front to back. It sounded more like a loose wire versus a control module, so I lifted the seat and jiggled the wires connecting the control module, but that doesn't seem to change the state of the glowing red light. Anyone have a similar problem?

Thanks

I got the same issue. I will try to swap the modules.

Indeed. Well said. By definition: a seat warmer does not work.
