Arrow Just saw Tokyo Drift. Always wanted to learn to drift. Anyone tried with your P ?

Tokyo Drift and Redline had pretty bad reviews. Personally, I liked both, probably in part cuz the reviews lowered my expectation somewhat. But really, these types of movies don't need plot or drama, fast cars and sexy girls are all what it's about. I take it most of you here liked the movies?

Too bad Tokyo Drift didn't have P cars doing the drift, that would have been nice. In the youtube, I saw this guy once early this year doing a 180 degree drift in a mountain trail with a Turbo. Since then I really wanted to learn to drift. Anyone here drift with your P car?

Cheers

Yeah occasionally but it's usually not on purpose. LOL

If you are considering drifting there are far better choices of cars out there than a 911. With the engine slung out at the rear of the car the 911 gets too much traction to be an effective drift car. Which, by the way, was the idea behind the design.

The 911 is the anti-drift car.

Shows like Top Gear would be much more boring if they didn't slide round the corners with smoke billowing. Having it as a sport? Not sure about that....

With regards to drifting a Porsche: my car wasn't on the road long enough to break the tyres loose, let alone get the rear end wagging. Plus, 911s are somewhat notorious for their snap oversteer - just ask Jeremy Clarkson (he crashes a GT3 in his latest DVD) - so they're not the best cars to drive on the ragged edge IMHO.

Yeah I've drifted in a minivan, although I really didn't want to... It was raining and the tires were done for. Not a pleasant experience.

You're going to have to ask Joey Carrera.

Does it not have to be front wheel drive on the car to be able to drift?

I've seen a 911 drift but according to my friends who drift race, Turbo'd 240sx's and old celicas are the most common choice, though you have Supras, GTO's (very easy to drift) and Skylines that do well too.

My question is WHY would I WANT to drift? It only slows you down. Don't believe the crap that movie tries to tell you.
