If by "kills the Targa for noise" you mean "louder than the Targa", you'd be right. Personally, I don't like a loud car OR "just being out there with the world."

The half-**** sales numbers probably have a lot more to do with Porsche's strange current policy of only selling the car as a Targa 4 and Targa 4S.

Dude, it's a $90k sports car--of course it's "totally niche". My stock C4 is also "totally niche".

I guess Ben doesn't consider this to be a "real" Porsche:

For the record, I did not ask if people like or dislike the Targa concept, I just wanted to know of they leak or squeak ...

No need to get hostile.

If you really want hostility, ask if girls like targas or cabs more!

Amatuer. If you really want hostility, go to the 993 forum and tell them that the 996 is far superior to their heavy, slow and crappy valve-guide prone cars.

I had a 911 SC targa for ten years and was all set to get a 993 ( same style as the 996 ) Targa. After driving a few I decided I wanted a cab w/a windscreen. The Targa just didn't do it for me, just seemed like a giant sunroof. When I decided I wanted a cab I checked out the 996 and the search was over, but like TD said - that's another thread. The people who have Targas love them, but it's not the same experience as it was w/the old Targas.

You're right--the current Targas are faster, handle better, and seal out the elements better than the old Targa.

From what I'm finding out All of these cars Boxters and 911s from 99' and up have a bad problem of a leaking Rear main seal that will cost you $1000.00 to fix out of warrantee. Some owners reporting repeat repairs for the same problem. I wanted one too but now the news is convincing me otherwise.
