Check out the new R/R body style with 24s. Image is totally different than that of the old body. Don't pay attention to the little braggart and all the add-ons, but the car itself is nice. Definitely has the snob appeal (but only with 24s), just like the P cars.

I always laugh when I see anything over 18" wheels on an SUV, it completely negates the purpose.

i'm not looking at your car and thinking man what a work of art. i'm thinking, that's an old rover. and purpose? lol 99% of these rovers spend 99% of their time on our lovely freeways and strip mall parking lots.

+1 - anyone who's actually done any real off-roading knows you want bigger sidewalls, not smaller, for compliance and traction when going over the rough stuff.

Big wheels on an SUV just screams poser.

poser for what? what are you guys so afraid of? a car is an accessory, a luxury item esp high ticket items like the ranger rover, 911, etc. if someone chooses to roll an '07 rover sittin' on 24s, it's no worse or better than you guys who choose to go take your nice trips into the wilderness with it.

just don't put your old rovers that fetch $18K on the used car market to be in the same "bling" space as a new body. they're two different cars even if they share the same name. i'm not coming down on you guys about doing your wilderness thing - all i'm saying is per the author here and keeping him in mind, let's be real here. it's either a new body rover, a 911 996 or a new 997S. not your old fart rovers you keep posting pics of.

If you want women to approach you without you speaking to them first get the Range. If you want men to approach you without you speaking first get the Porsche.

Isn't your 996 a MY02?

Rover changed body style in '03.

Try doing that in a 996!

Probably doesn't impress the ladies but who gives a ....
There are people here on the 996 forum that have had that done to their 996.

Hey, Ben. Tell us which model 911 you got. I see from the number of posts that you're a fixture in this forum.

So why buy a vehicle purpose built for going into the wilderness if you're not going to? To me, that's the very definition of poser - someone who spends big $$$ for capabilities they never intend on using.

Nothing wrong with posing, if that's what you want to do. If the OP wants to spend 6 figures and put 24" wheels on a Range Rover to cruise the wilds of LA, it's his money.

And I'll laugh whenever I see him go by.

Well... if you compare it in that way, what about those people with Porsches who never race or take them on tracks. Isn't that poserly too? After all, P cars were built to race. I bet you half the people with P cars don't take em on racetracks. A bank director made a comment to me why I got a $99K sports car when I don't even race. I have been called a poser for that. Heck, I haven't even taken my 996 over 110 MPH. Do you take your P on the track?

This is why I said originally that 911s and late model R/R share similarities. I never accused those older people with grey hair driving a Ferrari or Aston Martins as posers, assuming they don't take em on tracks. They want a car they want, they paid for it, and that's the end of that. No poserly about it at all.
