the one ton diesel stops more or less where i want it to. wouldn't want to be standing in front of it however. indicated speed whilst not really pushing it out of oak tree and on down the stretch was 139 at the entry to the braking zone of 14. i know there was much more available. just didn't have the cohnes to see what it really had. i was not in a p-car however. (ugly american plastic)

i may just go Cayman shopping one of these days.

+1 on driver training, in North America we need much higher standards.

As for a deserted stretch of road and planting the right foot or twisting the right wrist, yes, been there done it, guilty...not often. It is amazing how these cars accelerate past 100MPH, and thats just in my over weight '03 C2, can only imagine what it's like in a very high powered exotic.
Having said all that it is stupid, any fool can plant the foot on a straight stretch.
Found out at my first DE it takes much skill and patience to go fast around a track and thats where it should be kept.

Kudos to those who have posted their top "track" speed.

Stay safe all.

165 on a highway just outside of Pahrump, NV somewhere where there were NO cars in sight for miles. I held the speed for about three seconds.

172mph on I-27 on my way to Sebring at 4 in the morning. Nothing to hit. No deer. Had cruise control set at 160mph and was curious to see how much faster the car could really go. It really starts to struggle past 167 or so.

190 (per the speedo) on 505 on the way to Thunderhill @ 6am earlier this year. Long straight divided highway with no traffic...except the two trucks hauling their cars to the track. (Didn't want to back off since I was losing a tailgater.) Talk about a wake-up call for them when I went by at ~triple their speed with my muffler bypass pipes!

Also done 180 there before with zero traffic early in the am on the way to the track.

That must've been some serious tunnel-vision at that speed!

OK, now that it's safe:

150+ mph with a Pontiac GTO breathing up my C4 tailpipes on one of the rare lonely sections of I-80. I told myself that I'd let off when he did...

150ish in Montana on I-90.

Doing 125 in a shifter kart at Pacific Raceway feels twice as fast.

With stock gearing 190 would happen in 6th gear at 7500 rpms. I think your speedo is a little optimistic.

145 when in fifth gear, pulling away from friend's Boxster S, suddenly blowing my oil separator and creating a smoke screen behind me I really thought my engine blew!!! My friends now call my 911 a BOND car and are wondering if next time I'll shoot rockets

P.S Thank god for extended warranties

Tunnel-vision wasn't an issue. I'd gone near that speed before, so it wasn't new to me. It really hit me how quickly I was covering ground when I passed the trucks pulling the trailers. I had confidence they wouldn't suddenly do anything stupid since they're track vets and good drivers, but I don't think I'll be passing people at those speeds in the future...
