Default 996 slotted rotors again/track wheels

I haven't had any luck finding slotted rotors ( or solid ) for a 99 996. CDOC says they will be getting some for the fronts sometime soon. Not rears. That's about it.

Has everyone been using cross drilled rotors for track days?

Maybe if we drum up enough interest it will light a fire under some rotor manufactures foot to make rears too.

Any cool ideas for trackwheels that will fit a narrowbody. Something light and not $3000 would be good.

Check out CCWheel.com. Relatively light and about $2,500.

haven't tried these but they look good... and much cheaper then performance friction, brembo, etc.

slotted and dimpled brake rotors.

Hummm...I'm gonna bump this to see if anyone has run there rotors.

Dimpled vs. drilled is better for track use. Anyone have a weight on these compared to the OEM rotors?

The black dimpled & slotted ones look appealing! Did anyone try these out yet? I was able to find info on ebay about them. More than 95% (approx) were positive with no negative reviews in the last 12 months. That is nice and all, but I want a review from someone that has actually used them for at least 6 months.

Couldn't bring myself to do it...just ordered OEM rotors. They weight about 1lb per corner more than stock for what it's worth.

For what its worth, I gave up on the idea when I saw how inexpensive it was to purchase the OEM rotors from Sunset. Even if they develop cracks relatively quickly, you can almost get 2 sets of OEMs from them for the price of one set of slotted.

Patrick... agree completely and is what I have been doing and will be doing. Was just seeing if anyone had tried these since for the price if they hold up like OEM or perform even a little better then they are totally worth it. Anyway, back to OEM

Check to see if GT3 cup brake ducts fit on your car. The extra cooling reduces the incidence of cracks on my GT3. Also use Pagid RS 19 pads in front and RS 14 in the rear. This improves brake balance which is overly front biased on the 996 and by letting the rears do more work, the front rotors last longer.

best,
