and the 993's bow to the 73 RS...........and the 73 RS to the '73 S. Why would they be testimates to the greatness of the 993? The latest and greatest is always better. You always have to go to the track for the real answer. That's why the racing teams always want Porsches latest 911. You don't see still racing 10 year old technology do you? besides, how can a car with a squeeky window be the be the greatest. Yes the 993 was great but not the greatest.

Sorry, I must respectively disagree. The 993 is the greatest of all times. If you don't believe me, just ask any 993 owner and they'll tell you.

The greatness of 993s is as unquestionably true as the presence of WMDs in Iraq.

993s are so great that they don't roll on wheels, but they hovver an inch above the ground, because touching the ground is what common cars do.

Of course they will...... My point was on a more technological, racing and driving standpoint. Like with race cars, the new F1 cars are superior then older ones, and the new Audi R10 blows away the 3 year old version. The new GT3 RSR has more technology then a GT1 etc. It is like comparing a 997 twin turbo to a 930. Nostalgia wise of course the 930 is better, but I mean come on, the better car? Anyway, this is all subjective, I'm done.

The Cab top on the 993 takes 14 hours to hand stitch by a few selected skilled german virgins.

This reminds me of one of my favourite Rennlist posts ever:

After the festivities a local priest blesses each one on its journey to it's new home, and it's loaded into a giant sheepskin lined case and sent to America for a new start.

I believe this whole process takes about a year for each car... I'm trying to verify this."

The 993 is God's own chariot... A metal steed forged in the foundry at Mount Olympus out of the captured idols of a thousand kindgoms.

The 993 is an evolution of the VW Bug, the 996 a congener of the Carrera GT - I prefer the GT over the Bug despite the aircooled sound

The 993 is sooo far superior to all other Porsches because I read it here on Rennlist.

I believe that everything I read on the internet is true.

The 993 must be the greatest Porsche of all time.
Otherwise how could one explain the great 993 Monument and Wishing Fountain located in downtown Stuttgart,
where the citizenry honors the 993 with flowers, gifts, and an occasional sacrificial lamb,
and local schoolchildren toss their coins into the fountain, placing their wishes that they too may someday be priviledged enough to own the ultimate Porsche of all time, past, present, and future.

The 993 is so great that many Ferrari owners have crashed their Enzo's while admiring one pass by.

I'm sure the 356 owners wailed and bemoaned and denigrated the new, posh 356A.

On the other hand, newer is not ALWAYS better, and the 993 will be one of several iconic Porsches. The best ever? Probably not. A great car? Indeed. 996s and 997s have their own flashes of greatness and a few flaws. The point is we all get the one that suits US, and then we feel obligated to defend our choices. I'm just glad we have such choices and great cars to choose among. Enjoy your fine cars gentlemen. I know I do.

Gentleman, consider the following facts:
1) As members of this board have pointed out numerous times, the 993 is worth more than the 996.
2) If you're reading this, most likely you own a 996

Therefore:
We're driving 996's because we can't afford 993's. We're just a bunch of pathetic, jealous, envious, sour losers hating on the 993 guys.

Psst, hey pal....

The 994 is even better than the 993. Never heard of it? That's because only a handful of these cars were ever made. I've got one that I'll let go for cheap. Please send your cashier's check for $100,000 to:

LiveNupeScams
123 Rip-Off Lane
Foolsville, CA 90048

These cars normally go for $1,000,000 or more. I'm letting you have this great deal because you're one of my beloved fellow Rennlist brethren.

I'm pretty sure Shakespeare was cruisin in a 993...he passed it down to MacBeth on the opening day of the play as a gesture of thanks and good will. " All Hail Macbeth!!! " That's what all the commoners would yell when Macbeth would cruise by in his 993. What a trendsetter he was.
