Default Targa Top Noise...

Does anyone get a lot of rattling and sweaking from the targa top when going over bumps, uneven roads, etc? Is this normal?

A properly adjusted Targa top should not rattle or squeak. Get the top adjusted, and then treat the seals with BMW's Gummiplege or, I think, vaseline. It should not make any noise any more.

td - i think vaseline tneds to really dry out rubber gaskets/seals... might want to use silicone which moisturizes and would have similair effect.

Some noise but mostly based on weather. The top and my knees act up on the same days. How sad is that?
I took it in to have top adjusted and was told that there wasn't any adjustment that could be done and that these tops make noise.
That's odd to hear. If I had bought this brand new and spent the 85-90 large then I would expect silence in the cabin.
My noise that comes from time to time in when closed and it comes from the right rear corner of the top when sitting in the driver's seat. That would be above the right rear passenger. If I open and then close the top it can sometimes go away but will come back until the weather changes again.

Really, I haven't noticed any noise problems with mine. I usually treat the rubber with lexol.

I assume by temperature dependant you mean cold weather? It seems to creak a lot on cold mornings.

I use Zymol rubber seal conditioner. A little pricey and a little gooey to apply, but it seems to work.

Prior to aftermarket suspension, I had no rattles at all. Now based on how stiff the car is, I get a bit when going over uneven roads, otherwise its still real quiet.

Normally I say there are several good products for the same job, but in the case of rubber seals I say get yourself a Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick (I believe you can get them from CDOC). It's really magic.

I use spray silicone. Works perfectly and is easy to spray into all the channels and felt.
