It must be the inlet & outlet pipes are a little longer than 996. But that can be fix and fit under the 996 bumper. I will do more research on this subject.

Default It will be a lot of work...

I looked into this and got the schematics of both exhausts and after looking under both cars and at the schematics they have substantially different piping. Not worth the extra work.

So it's the piping not the shape, size of the cans and the bracket. Good, I can mod. the piping to fit. I can do Mandrel bend with these pipes. Thanks!

Hello,

I have a 996 GT3 in 2000.

I would like to know if I can ride on my GT3 mufflers to 996 3.6 modified?

Sorry, for my english, I'm French.

Thanks.

MKII install complete this weekend. Very satisified, nice throaty growl and that F1 sound when I get on it. Very tame at cruising speed. Would be another +1 for anyone considering this mod.

Lalex - Welcome to Rennlist. If I understand your question correctly, you wabt to know if you can modify your GT3 mufflers like the 3.6 mufflers. I believe the answer is yes you can do the same modification.

However don't the GT3's have another set of mufflers just before the tail pipes? Or am I thinking of the 997 GT3 exhaust?

I did the MK2 mod a couple of weeks ago, and I really like the results. It does not drone at all, but has a deep guttural rasp when I'm at WOT in gears 1 - 3. Very nice.

PS. What does MK2 stand for?

Basically, it stands for version 2. Model years '99 - '01 are MK I cars. Mocel years '02 - '04 (and 2005 for C4 and C4S) are "facelift" cars and therefore are MK II cars.

Thank you for your answer.

In fact, I wanted to know if I could put 3.6 mufflers on my GT3?

I see no reason why not, I have 3.6 mufflers on my 3.4 even though my car is not a GT3 just an Aero C2 (as seen in the sig).

This mod is based upon doing it to the 3.6 mufflers as that is where you get the best results from in regards to sound. It has been mentioned that doing this mod to the 3.4 mufflers does not do much at all.

GL with the mod and keep us posted.

Can someone confirm for me whether i have 3.6 or 3.4 cans? They have the accordian like pipe which I'm told means they come from the 3.6. The part number on one is 996 111 131.53 I believe this means it came from an automatic transmission car (could that matter?) but I'm unclear if this confirms the year of the donor car or engine size. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Renn! 3.6 is the accordian type exhaust. 3.4 has no accordian.

Welcome to Rennlist. As redridge said a muffler with the accordion pipe is from a 3.6L engine.
