They both look great. And with this thread being so long, is it really worth it at the end of the day to spend all this time and energy for a result that's never going to be as good as the original? It's one thing if PSE costs $5K, but it's much less than that and you could always sell it very quickly and go back to stock.

As my english level is not good enough to understand several things,
What's the meaning of IS-F?
In Madrid (Spain) the PSE cost about 2.300 euros = 3.675 $
I paid 180 € for all = 285 $ and I love this doble pipe. I don't want to pretend being a 997 owner with them.
They look very pretty for me, and they were placed perfectly by an expert.
All us know that they ar not OEM for 996 , but I don't find them as a fake. For this reason, all people who mounted 19" rims in a 996 (with an oversize tires) are they coming into a 997 fake?
I don't think so.
I love my car 100 % original, and doing this mod, you do the same as PSE without electrovalves to cut out.

I didn't want to mod my 996 3.6 original cans, because I could sell my car better in the future.
Nevertheless I respect all the opinions.

Thanks

Thanks Tim.
This welding shop is famous in Madrid. They work with racing car teams and did a fine job.

Joaquin,

The new pipes look great. I have been following your thread and was wondering what you ended up doing. Is this the same shop that did the boxster exhaust upgrade?

IS-F is the new Lexus 4 door V8

Yea, Juan... Lexus IS-F has these pipes that stack up on top of each other with the top or bottom one I forget being completely unnecessary. You get all these guys making fun of it, but little do they know exhaust tips aren't necessary period. So any car with nice shiny exhaust tips... is totally cool. Vanity counts.

I prefer this version of the mod. Louder and more aggressive.

I actually really like those tips, but on the MKII cars the rear bumper cutouts are shaped differently and I'm personally a little worried about things warping from heat. When I did my PSE mod I was tempted though.

If I ever went to a different bumper with more clearance or a more squared off cutout I'd do those quad tips. Can't argue with $285 for cans + tips + mod!

Modern look
I find your car very close in time to 997 with these rims.

I do like the way it turned out. Valets do tend to keep it out in front which I find pretty funny! I was going for a super clean look with a hint of aggression. In fact initially I was thinking of also doing the Techart Type II wing (looks almost exactly like the old 993 Turbo S whaletail/tea tray, last wing I really liked) as well, but was afraid I might be toeing the Franken-Porsche line a bit too much.

If I had to do it over again, given where I drive it and how hard I've been beating on it, I would have gone with the 18s on higher profile rubber just for peace of mind. Nearly everyone I personally know in the two places I spend the most time bends their 19" 997 wheels with frightening regularity, and every hardcore wheel person I know tell me that 19s on 996 and 997 are infamous in their world for doing this. I have 17" lightweights which will be used for the winter.

Because of the gunmetal color on all of the horizontal surfaces of the wheel (only the face of the wheel is polished), they don't look that great on lighter colors at least in my opinion, but for black/blue I think they are sharp. In fact initially I did not like these wheels on the turbo until I saw them on a black car.

One of my favorites (I came very close to doing this) is the sport techno, but painted black on the horizontal surfaces similar to the 997tt wheels. here's a pic:

Notice how the painted horizontal surfaces make the red calipers look a little funny?
