Dude, gains on almost all exhausts are marginal. Do it for the sound, and if you happen to feel any bottom of the seat gains, then consider yourself lucky.

Holiday, do you know if we will need to buy new tips or if we can use our old tips and does the year of the 996 matter? The link shows tips (they labled tailpipe). Not sure if they are required specificly.

Default I'm in for the group buy!

Holiday:

I'd be interested in the Sport Exhaust; can you find out what size the tips are, whether their is a choice of style of tips, and are the tips optional? I just ordered tips from Vertex - darn! Anyway, I'm looking forward to putting these on my car ASAP!

Jsaindc- Don't need new tips- the factory tips will mount to both of these systems. Both exhausts will fit any 996 year model.

Dale- Tips do not come with the exhaust, but your Vertex tips may fit fine- asked Departstop, but they weren't familiar with installing the Vertex tips. If they will fit the factory PSE system, they will fit either of the Dansk models.

Wow ... At prices like $875, I'm in !

I see 3 options on that PDF.

1) Sport exhaust (96.300S)
2) Sport exhaust OE style (looks like stock) (96.330S)
3) Sport Exhaust Super Sound (96.300S EXP)

Here is what I felt. Please add your own view ...
#1) This sounds GREAT !!! This is something I've been looking for. Is this how the PSE sounds ??

#2) This sounds just like stock mufflers. Maybe louder ? Dunno.

#3) This sounds more like a muscle car. Its loud and nice but not what I'm looking for. I felt its a bit like fabspeed.

So the obvious question. If they are the OEMs for the PSE, then how come their mufflers LOOK so different (eg, #1) than the PSE ? And I've heard from several people that Dansk was the OEM for the PSE ... (including a local Porsche shop which specialised in making porsche race ready) ... so I'm a little confused.

#1 sounded great. Very strong and raspy sounding. All Teutonic. It would be my second choice after the Ruf that I currently sport.

Because #2 on your list (96.330S) is the PSE version, not #1 (96.300S). That IS confusing- isn't it. All three systems are referred to as "Sport Exhaust", so I need to choose my words more carefully. Any of the three systems are available at the $875 number we were quoted.

I think you meant Eisenmann, and you'd be right- Dansk and Eisenmann both manufactured OEM PSE systems, but I don't know the info on which cars were supplied with which.

He's told me that he has plenty of both systems in stock. I'm really suprised about the pricing considering I was about to pay $1190 for one (and even that was a good price- they retail for ~$1600)

Just to clarify- the Dansk "Sport Exhaust OEM" IS the PSE system, minus the adjustible butterfly valve and electronics. There were a few different manufacturers of the PSE system throughout the years- I'm told that Dansk produced the majority of them.
The "Super Sound" system is of an aftermarket style, unlike the factory pressed Sport Exhaust/PSE. From the outside, it looks like Fabspeed, etc. (oval shaped). Departstop said they had installed dozens over the years, and that they were about 10-15% louder than the Sport Exhaust system. Said that the interior noise was about the same for both systems.

I'm in for sure and will set everything up if others want a set. Just post here or PM me.
Holiday - Are you certain about the Dansk "Sport Exhaust OEM" IS the PSE system? The reason I ask is because the pics and drawings of the OEM mufflers on the Dansk site do NOT show the second pipe exiting from the muffler. Their drawing looks like the top muffler in the first pic below, which is a stock OEM muffler. The actual OEM PSE is shown in the second pic.

I know you said they do not have the valve to switch from quiet to loud and back again, and that part is OK with me and probably some others. I just want to make sure if someone chooses the "Sport Exhaust OEM" that they don't end up getting what they already have, which is OEM non-PSE.

Gota911- Man, when it comes to pics- you're all over it! I don't have any personal experience with the systems to know for certain, but I was told by Dayton, the owner of Departstop.com, that part number 96.330S is the PSE system minus the adjustibility. My certainty only stretches as far as my trust of his proffessional knowledge- so no, I'm not positive.
I did manage to find the PSE OEM system that Dansk manufactures with the butterfly valve/electronics- it's part number 96.335SOUND. This shows the extra pipe that you speak of, so maybe the pipe is only associated with the adjustibility function. You can check it out if you download the exhaust catalog off of the main link I listed in my first post.
Also, if you listen to the 96.330S sound file- it's definately got alot more grunt than at least my basic OEM exhaust.

Is Dansk the answer or is it worth seeing if GHL will do a group buy?

For what this diagram shows, 96.300s can not be be PSE, see picture below, item #1. I may be wrong but it looks like the PSE is 96.330S (item #4). Item # 5 appears to have a bypass tube...

Okay Holiday count me in....I listened to the sound clips and they sound pretty good and real to the PSE to me.....now I just have to figure out if I want the PSE or the PSE loud....did they give you any indication about how loud, loud is?? Because in the clips loud sounds pretty good....I just don't want it to be bypass pipes loud..if you know what I mean!!
