Fine watches and cars go hand in hand. I have alwaysed been very interested in horology. I own a Rolex GMT and a chronoswiss opus. (those are the nicest) I want a Roger Dubois. One day (when i get my turbo )

Used to use the Z400 movement but no longer. All in house movement for the Daytona from about a year ago.

 

Rolex GMT Master II, Stainless. Elegant, rugged, and functional, especially if you travel through time zones. Not many people know, but can also function as a compass, which actually saved my butt once in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Not as accurate as my Porsche Nav System though!

Panerai is for driving an H1 or H2, I think. Odd that the Rolex Daytona came back, for years and years they couldn't give it away.

 

NMoore and LeChef...Just wondering why you percerptions about Panerai are what they are? Their your opinions but I'm just curious.

I have a Rolex and sometimes feel a little self-conscious just because of the reaction I get when I tell someone "It's a Rolex". IMHO Rolex is often the watch most "M3 types", posers, whatever you want to call it aspire to. I bought it because the style really fit me. Sometimes when people ask me what it is I don't tell them (I don't like to be flashy).

I was considering the Panerai for this very reason. So that it was NOT known by most people except those who truly know watches. I DO think they are a little large. I like a large watch but it doesn't slip underneath the cuffs of a dress shirt very well. The Rolex is beefy enough but doesn't intrude in this way.

 

The H1 and Luminor are both grotesquely large military devices intended for use civilian owners (generally) never put them to. The Panerai is intended to be worn outside neoprene, not inside French cuffs.

The M3 is a pretty damned good car for the money, and I see them driven very fast quite often. Not quite the same thing.

 

Meant PAM 87...it started out as a simple question.....another fine watch is the Omega Seamaster Pro in titanium and tantalum with gold accents. I admire all of the watches that have been put forth. Reality is a winnie the pooh watch would look good in a porsche...

 

Rolex and Porsche go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Eterna buy movements, btw, they are not a manufacture.

Panerai is Italian in name only, and remember the proper early military Panerai used Rolex movements. The new ones really are just fashion watches, although very popular ones at that.

I got my dad a Porsche Design watch that ran about $2.5k a few years ago. It broke down completely. My mom got a Rolex for Christmas. It too broke rather quickly. My parents aren't what you would call "irresponsible. I have this cell phone that gets its time from the network that has it's time synchronized with an atomic clock. It works great and always tells the perfect time.

WL</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">No Compass on the Explorer II it's for 'splunkers.' They probably figure you dont need a compass in there!

 

Sloth, you can buy a ss Daytona in the US, they're just in short supply and the dealers like to charge above list.
