Post PANERAI & PORSCHE

What a combination. Anyone else agree? Proud owner of a PAM 86(aka "the 1000m")will look nice next to the c4 cab.

I think IWC goes pretty well too - a nice, big-faced black Portuguese next to a triple-black cab is a great combo...

Hi to everybody. New in the forum. Have a 03 C2 Cab.and I also love watches. I personally prefer my Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk II...but Panerai is also great.

Hi - I'm also a porsche enthusiast that loves watches - and in my mind, there's only one serious watch for a porsche owner - and it HAS to be german. I love wearing my Lange 1 Moonphase Platinum (from Lange and Sohne) while driving my C4 Cab... a great combination!

You can see a pic of the Lange 1 Moonphase here:
http://www.langesoehne.de/en/02_watches/index_lange1_mondphase.php

Porsche and Lange - the ultimate combination!

I'll bite. Stainless Submariner with date--as classic as it gets! Rolex isn't even close to the best but race-winning Porsche drivers have graced their arms with Rolex Daytonas for so long... Patek, Audemars and Vacheron would top my list.

Oh oh: this has the recipe for a Swiss vs German (and don't forget the Italian Panerai) watch making feud! I'll admit I also wear a Submariner in my C4 occassionally and you've got a good point wrt Rolex Daytonas...

The submariner is a great watch but a Porsche is not a U-Boat. It's the Rolex Daytona all the way!

I'll bite too, I have an original Heuer wrist chrongraph I bought new in 1968! Still going strong too!

Did you know that F.A. Porsche owns Eterna watch company? Eterna is one of the few who make the caliber and the watch today. Others who make their own caliber are Rolex (I have a GMT Master II), Minerva (my Pythagore is a favorite of mine), Glaschutte, IWC and a few others that someone else has to think of.

Well, just to add fuel, if you're looking at the Rolex Daytona, you might as well add the Zenith El Primero to the list, because that's whose movement Rolex used for the Daytona.

I also wouldn't completely overlook the Heuer Monaco -- cool looking and a strong racing connection.

Lange 1 "Stealth" is a great choice, but an IWC Portugesier Chrono in white gold with the white dial may actually be the better choice. Panerai is more M3 than Porsche IMHO.

OTOH if you want to REALLY get into chrono's forget the ss Daytona (more Z350 than anything else) at 3K over rsp and go for great value with the Blancpain Flyback in any metal which is techically a much, much better watch than the Daytona. Or go big bucks and head for the Lange Datograph or Glashutte Original PanoRetroGraph.
