Post Any regrets on RoW M030 installation?

Hi,

I'm considering installing an RoW M030 on an '03 996 Coupe. I was wondering if anyone has installed this AND had regrets, due to ride height or other issues. Other than the fact that some were not happy with the reduction in ride height, the posts seem to be very positive!

Also, the local dealer is quoting about $800 labor + $200 for an alignment - this seems a little steep based upon other posts.

Do it yourself, a suspension installation is VERY easy. It is pretty much as simple as popping the old parts off and putting the new ones back in the same place. Save yourself 800 dollars to spend on something else.

Might be worth a trip to Houston. The local dealer (Advantage on I-10) charged $800 including alignment last January. Talk to Larry in Service (281-493-1000).
Overall I am very satisfied with the RoW 030 upgrade, no regrets. it is the only mod I would never consider changing back to stock.

I know the 993 DIY instructions are posted on p-car.com. Are there any equivalent sources for the 996 to help a DIYer (besides RTFM )? BTW, I recently ordered the Euro M030 for $971 plus shipping. Anyone beat that?

No regrets at all, could not think of my 996 without it.

Awesome mod-would never switch back to stock. Just firm enough and soft enough for track/street. Regards. Mike

mb996,

If you want to drive down to Houston for the day, our local DIY crowd could (read Robert H, Danny (DJF1), Matt Vaughn, and myself) could probably get that suspension in for you for about the cost of beer & pizza. We've already done 2 suspension swaps since Jan 1!

I suggest you ride in it before you buy. I installed it on my 02 Cab and don't like it. It does not lower the car much and the ride is much stiffer. In fact, the ride in my Cab, with ROW, is much worse than my 996TT with ROW.

Personally, I'd go with a coilover setup if I had it to do again. If I'm going to put up with a stiff ride, I might as well have a nice ride height.

My only regret is not doing it sooner.

It is noticeably stiffer, but I've had cars in the past that were as stiff so I don't have a problem with the ride. The thing I was worried about was the ride height being too low. I really don't like driving a car that gets high-middled on a sideways beercan. Luckily, my RoW M030 only dropped the car about .5"

Roy RWO I was under the impression that you could NOT put it on a cab??? Or was it that Porsche doesn't approve of it on a cab????

Dranon,

I don't think PCNA approves it for a Cab, however, it is approved in Europe for the 2002 onward cars. They were stiffer than the previous cars...

Sorry for my lack of knowledge in this area, but what is a RoW M030?
