Cool B&M Shifter just installed... DO IT!!!!!

I took my first drive today in my car (short 20 minute) after having the B&M short shifter and Porsche PSE installed.

The B&M shifter is out of this world better than the stock piece of garbage. It feels so much better and precise I cannot recommend it enough.

It should be a must on anybody's upgrade list. It is inexpensive and makes a world of difference in shift feel. I owe it all to the forums. Enough feedback on this shifter prompted me to buy one.

AMAZING!

The Porsche Exhaust is world's better than the stock, but I will save that for another review after I have more time and breakin on it.

My sentiments exactly with the B&M shifter-best bang for the buck. It's such a precise engagement gear to gear. I use to misshift with stock but not anymore : ). Regards. Mike

Any idea on how long for the PSE to break-in? Miles? Time? I assume I can accelerate break-in by driving it around a lot this weekend.
That will rock if this thing only gets better.

I have a 2001 C4 and the shifts are amazing, stock. I noticed a car mag article felt the same about the 01 C4, said it was the best shifting P car they ever drove. I'd have to drive a B&M upgraded car to see the difference. Anyone in SoCal with this?

I have a 2001 C4 and I went with the B&M. Much better than stock. Love that snick, snick feel.

I actually had it installed. AJ USA charged 1 hour of labor time to install it. I just did not feel like messing with it.

I just got my 2003 X-51 C4-S back from having the B&M shifter and H&R springs installed as well as having the sport exhaust modified so that it is "on" all the time...what a difference, its like having an entirely new and much improved car. I would strongly recommend each ane every one of these modifications to everyone. My one concern was that the 19" wheels would rub after lowering the car, but so far ao good.
There must be a reason that Porsche does not have a better shifter right out of the box, but whatever it is sure escapes me.

DAB.

The B&M is not so hard to intall yourself. You need time and patience, it took me about 3 hours taking my time.

Definately a worthy upgrade, next to a great sounding exhaust!

MY dealer said this was one of the few non-Porshe parts he carries and couldn't say enough good things about it. He wanted to charge me $325 which I though was crazy.

I'm going to order my through By Design and save the $100.00. Can't wait to get it installed!!!

I've had the B&M for a couple of months now, I can't imagine going back. It has loosened up just enough so it feels just right. It was slightly stiff when first installed,so I dialed in a little play and it feels great, no added effort, just more precise and direct feeling shifts. I'd have to say it's a no brainer for $225. You can install it yourself in about an hour.

IF I wanted the dealer to install this, what should I expect to pay? How many hours do you think they'd charge me for?

If it's any indication my dealer quoted me a price of $400 for an exhaust install. This is a 1-2 hr DIY project at best.
